Why do we give aid, and does it help? What do we know about the development paths being taken by various countries, or the possibilities of helping them to achieve their goals from outside? How relevant is development aid now that remittances and foreign direct investments have increased as a result of globalization? When does aid have more negative than positive effects? What is the significance of shifting power relations in the world? And do policies focusing on issues like climate, migration, financial stability, knowledge, trade and security not have a greater impact than aid on the development opportunities of poor countries? These questions inspired the Dutch Scientific Council for Government Policy (wrr) to examine what form development aid should take in the era of globalization. At the start of 2010, on the basis of over 500 interviews with experts and an extensive literature survey, the wrr presented its far-reaching recommendations. In October 2010, the new Dutch government decided to use the report as the basis of a thorough modernization of its development policy. This book is based on the wrr report. It builds on the many responses to the report, resulting in more elaboration on specific lines of reasoning, coverage of new themes and more comprehensive analyses, without changing the core of the original report. lok: 33498650 3 101B $030-01-17 $t14:55:52.000 101C $030-01-17 101U $0utf8 145S/01 $a007 exp: 33498650 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:03:37.279 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0733450717 208@/01 $a20-06-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34678 $XR lok: 33498650 5 exp: 33498650 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:03:37.296 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0734182767 208@/01 $a03-07-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34678 $XR lok: 33498650 8 exp: 33498650 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:03:37.302 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0733450725 208@/01 $a20-06-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34678 $XR lok: 33498650 10 exp: 33498650 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:03:37.312 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0733450733 208@/01 $a20-06-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34678 $XR lok: 33498650 11 exp: 33498650 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:03:37.319 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0734182775 208@/01 $a03-07-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34678 $XR lok: 33498650 20 exp: 33498650 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:03:37.324 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0733450741 208@/01 $a20-06-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34678 $XR lok: 33498650 21 exp: 33498650 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:03:37.329 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0734182791 208@/01 $a03-07-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34678 $XR lok: 33498650 23 exp: 33498650 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:03:37.345 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $073345075X 208@/01 $a20-06-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34678 $XR lok: 33498650 24 exp: 33498650 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:03:37.360 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0734182805 208@/01 $a03-07-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34678 $XR lok: 33498650 25 exp: 33498650 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:03:37.363 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0733450768 208@/01 $a20-06-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34678 $XR lok: 33498650 36 exp: 33498650 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:03:37.370 201C/01 $004-09-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01213332311 208@/01 $a04-09-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34678 $XR lok: 33498650 49 exp: 33498650 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:03:37.378 201C/01 $020-03-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01088283357 208@/01 $a20-03-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34678 $XR lok: 33498650 54 exp: 33498650 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:03:37.383 201C/01 $020-03-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01088283365 208@/01 $a20-03-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34678 $XR lok: 33498650 108 exp: 33498650 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:03:37.399 201C/01 $020-03-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01088283373 208@/01 $a20-03-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34678 $XR lok: 33498650 204 exp: 33498650 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:03:37.403 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0733450776 208@/01 $a20-06-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34678 $XR lok: 33498650 205 exp: 33498650 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:03:37.406 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0733450784 208@/01 $a20-06-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34678 $XR
