Nevertheless elites have remained the known unknowns of the European integration process. The present volume is designed to change this. Based on surveys of political and economic elites in 18 European countries, it is a comprehensive study of the visions, fears, cognitions, and values of members of national parliaments and top business leaders underlying their attitudes towards European integration. It also investigates political and economic elites’ embeddedness in transnational networks and their ability to communicate in multicultural settings. Our book strongly supports the view of an elitist character of the process of European integration on the one hand, while challenging the idea that European national elites have merged or are even merging into a coherent Eurelite on the other. As the 11 chapters of this book show, the process of European integration is much more colourful and even contradictory than concepts of a straightforward normative and structural integration suggest. In particular this process is deeply rooted in and conditional on the social and political settings in national contexts. The empirical basis for this book is provided by the data of the international IntUne project, which has for the first time created a comprehensive database combining coordinated surveys of Europe-related attitudes at the elite and general population level. lok: 35118390 3 101B $030-01-17 $t14:45:00.000 101C $030-01-17 101U $0utf8 145S/01 $a007 exp: 35118390 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.637 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0745192572 208@/01 $a08-12-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR lok: 35118390 5 exp: 35118390 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.645 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0745192580 208@/01 $a08-12-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR lok: 35118390 8 exp: 35118390 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.649 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0745192599 208@/01 $a08-12-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR lok: 35118390 10 exp: 35118390 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.653 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0745192602 208@/01 $a08-12-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR lok: 35118390 11 exp: 35118390 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.658 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0745192610 208@/01 $a08-12-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR lok: 35118390 20 exp: 35118390 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.674 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0745192637 208@/01 $a08-12-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR lok: 35118390 21 exp: 35118390 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.680 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0745192645 208@/01 $a08-12-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR lok: 35118390 23 exp: 35118390 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.683 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0745192653 208@/01 $a08-12-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR lok: 35118390 24 exp: 35118390 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.687 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0745192661 208@/01 $a08-12-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR lok: 35118390 25 exp: 35118390 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.689 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $074519267X 208@/01 $a08-12-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR lok: 35118390 36 exp: 35118390 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.692 201C/01 $006-03-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01294571974 208@/01 $a06-03-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR lok: 35118390 49 exp: 35118390 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.701 201C/01 $003-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01091515107 208@/01 $a03-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR lok: 35118390 54 exp: 35118390 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.703 201C/01 $003-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01091515115 208@/01 $a03-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR lok: 35118390 69 exp: 35118390 69 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.706 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0745192718 208@/01 $a08-12-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR lok: 35118390 76 exp: 35118390 76 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.709 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $077921630X 208@/01 $a06-08-16 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR lok: 35118390 107 exp: 35118390 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.711 201C/01 $003-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01091515123 208@/01 $a03-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR lok: 35118390 108 exp: 35118390 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.714 201C/01 $003-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01091515131 208@/01 $a03-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR lok: 35118390 204 exp: 35118390 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.716 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0745192726 208@/01 $a08-12-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR lok: 35118390 205 exp: 35118390 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t00:28:46.719 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0745192734 208@/01 $a08-12-14 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/33856 $XR
