It develops a novel framework calling into question both primordial and modernist approaches to nationalism and national identity before applying that framework to Croatia. In doing so it provides a new way of thinking about how national identity is formed and why it is so important. An explanation is given of how Croatian national identity was formed in the abstract, via a historical narrative that traces centuries of yearning for a national state. The book shows how the government, opposition parties, dissident intellectuals and diaspora groups offered alternative accounts of this narrative in order to legitimise contemporary political programmes based on different visions of national identity. It then looks at how these debates were manifested in social activities as diverse as football and religion, economics and language. This volume marks an important contribution to both the way we study nationalism and national identity, and our understanding of post-Yugoslav politics and society. lok: 36240892 3 exp: 36240892 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t02:15:24.510 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757441106 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/35011 $XR lok: 36240892 5 exp: 36240892 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t02:15:24.514 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $075805548X 208@/01 $a06-08-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/35011 $XR lok: 36240892 8 exp: 36240892 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t02:15:24.517 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757441114 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/35011 $XR lok: 36240892 10 exp: 36240892 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t02:15:24.519 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757441122 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/35011 $XR lok: 36240892 11 exp: 36240892 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t02:15:24.522 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0758055498 208@/01 $a06-08-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/35011 $XR lok: 36240892 20 exp: 36240892 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t02:15:24.525 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757441130 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/35011 $XR lok: 36240892 21 exp: 36240892 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t02:15:24.527 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $075805551X 208@/01 $a06-08-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/35011 $XR lok: 36240892 23 exp: 36240892 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t02:15:24.532 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757441149 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/35011 $XR lok: 36240892 24 exp: 36240892 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t02:15:24.536 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0758055528 208@/01 $a06-08-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/35011 $XR lok: 36240892 25 exp: 36240892 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t02:15:24.538 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757441157 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/35011 $XR lok: 36240892 36 exp: 36240892 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t02:15:24.541 201C/01 $023-09-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01214380948 208@/01 $a23-09-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/35011 $XR lok: 36240892 49 exp: 36240892 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t02:15:24.545 201C/01 $003-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01091923779 208@/01 $a03-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/35011 $XR lok: 36240892 54 exp: 36240892 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t02:15:24.700 201C/01 $003-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01091923787 208@/01 $a03-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/35011 $XR lok: 36240892 108 exp: 36240892 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t02:15:24.754 201C/01 $003-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01091923795 208@/01 $a03-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/35011 $XR lok: 36240892 204 exp: 36240892 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t02:15:24.760 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757441165 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/35011 $XR lok: 36240892 205 exp: 36240892 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t02:15:24.766 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757441173 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/35011 $XR
