During the new nation’s first decade and a half, Indonesia’s links with the world and its sense of nationhood were vigorously negotiated on the cultural front. Indonesia used cultural networks of the time, including those of the Cold War, to announce itself on the world stage. International links, post-colonial aspirations and nationalistic fervour interacted to produce a thriving cultural and intellectual life at home. Essays discuss the exchange of artists, intellectuals, writing and ideas between Indonesia and various countries; the development of cultural networks; and ways these networks interacted with and influenced cultural expression and discourse in Indonesia. With contributions by Keith Foulcher, Liesbeth Dolk, Hairus Salim HS, Tony Day, Budiawan, Maya H.T. Liem, Jennifer Lindsay, Els Bogaerts, Melani Budianta, Choirotun Chisaan, I Nyoman Darma Putra, Barbara Hatley, Marije Plomp, Irawati Durban Ardjo, Rhoma Dwi Aria Yuliantri and Michael Bodden. From the reviews: ‘This book will become a founding publication of research on the cultural and social history of Soekarno’s Old Order. It will stimulate new research [...] and begins to fill in the gaps that have existed for the past half a century’, Laurie Sears. ‘[...] reveals the highly charged debates and conflicts over artistic practice in the newly independent Indonesian state during the Soekarno era in their infinite complexities’, Frances Gouda. lok: 36241500 3 exp: 36241500 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:48:56.132 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757489745 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34574 $XR lok: 36241500 5 exp: 36241500 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:48:56.134 201C/01 $025-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01183502729 208@/01 $a25-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34574 $XR lok: 36241500 8 exp: 36241500 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:48:56.140 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757489753 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34574 $XR lok: 36241500 10 exp: 36241500 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:48:56.144 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757489761 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34574 $XR lok: 36241500 11 exp: 36241500 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:48:56.147 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757904394 208@/01 $a03-08-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34574 $XR lok: 36241500 13 exp: 36241500 13 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:48:56.155 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757904408 208@/01 $a03-08-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34574 $XR lok: 36241500 21 exp: 36241500 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:48:56.220 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757904416 208@/01 $a03-08-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34574 $XR lok: 36241500 23 exp: 36241500 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:48:56.225 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757489788 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34574 $XR lok: 36241500 24 exp: 36241500 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:48:56.228 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757904424 208@/01 $a03-08-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34574 $XR lok: 36241500 25 exp: 36241500 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:48:56.231 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757489796 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34574 $XR lok: 36241500 36 exp: 36241500 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:48:56.243 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757904440 208@/01 $a03-08-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34574 $XR lok: 36241500 54 exp: 36241500 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:48:56.271 201C/01 $003-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01091931453 208@/01 $a03-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34574 $XR lok: 36241500 71 exp: 36241500 71 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:48:56.274 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757904467 208@/01 $a03-08-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34574 $XR lok: 36241500 75 exp: 36241500 75 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:48:56.278 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757904475 208@/01 $a03-08-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34574 $XR lok: 36241500 107 exp: 36241500 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:48:56.280 201C/01 $003-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01091931461 208@/01 $a03-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34574 $XR lok: 36241500 204 exp: 36241500 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:48:56.282 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $075748980X 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34574 $XR lok: 36241500 205 exp: 36241500 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:48:56.285 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757489818 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34574 $XR
