This period is known in the Estonian archaeological chronology as the Migration Period, the Pre-Viking Age, and the Viking Age. This was an era of rapid change, by the end of which traditional Estonian peasant culture as it is known until the 19th century had developed. Whereas in Western Europe written sources from the second half of the first millennium AD herald the arrival of the Middle Ages, there is an almost complete absence of written information about the prevailing conditions and events that took place in the area of present-day Estonia. There are only remains of the farms and fortresses of that time beneath the earth, as well as cemeteries, overgrown field baulks and clearance cairns, and the large amount of excavated ancient objects or fragments thereof. Many aspects of prehistoric life cannot be researched because the source material is not extant and there is no hope of finding it. Moreover, many phenomena of human life do not generate archaeological source material. Thus our overall understanding of the Estonian Middle Iron Age and the Viking Age is inevitably fragmentary and superficial. lok: 36241513 3 exp: 36241513 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:44:33.007 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757490786 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34489 $XR lok: 36241513 5 exp: 36241513 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:44:33.030 201C/01 $025-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01183458665 208@/01 $a25-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34489 $XR lok: 36241513 8 exp: 36241513 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:44:33.034 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757490794 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34489 $XR lok: 36241513 10 exp: 36241513 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:44:33.036 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757490808 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34489 $XR lok: 36241513 11 exp: 36241513 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:44:33.041 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $075789755X 208@/01 $a03-08-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34489 $XR lok: 36241513 13 exp: 36241513 13 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:44:33.045 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757897568 208@/01 $a03-08-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34489 $XR lok: 36241513 21 exp: 36241513 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:44:33.084 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757897576 208@/01 $a03-08-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34489 $XR lok: 36241513 23 exp: 36241513 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:44:33.088 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757490824 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34489 $XR lok: 36241513 24 exp: 36241513 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:44:33.091 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757897584 208@/01 $a03-08-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34489 $XR lok: 36241513 25 exp: 36241513 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:44:33.095 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757490832 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34489 $XR lok: 36241513 36 exp: 36241513 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:44:33.098 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757897592 208@/01 $a03-08-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34489 $XR lok: 36241513 54 exp: 36241513 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:44:33.129 201C/01 $003-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01091931658 208@/01 $a03-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34489 $XR lok: 36241513 71 exp: 36241513 71 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:44:33.141 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757897614 208@/01 $a03-08-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34489 $XR lok: 36241513 75 exp: 36241513 75 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:44:33.145 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757897622 208@/01 $a03-08-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34489 $XR lok: 36241513 107 exp: 36241513 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:44:33.149 201C/01 $003-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01091931666 208@/01 $a03-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34489 $XR lok: 36241513 204 exp: 36241513 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:44:33.157 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757490840 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34489 $XR lok: 36241513 205 exp: 36241513 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-06-25 $t01:44:33.161 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0757490859 208@/01 $a24-07-15 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/34489 $XR
