This dilemma has captured the attention of philosophers as well as legal scholars for many years, but has thus far been rarely studied employing institutional and social frameworks. In this book such frameworks are incorporated into the discussion of the 'paradox' in an attempt to provide an answer to the question: is there a golden path which can reconcile between the democratic polity's need to defend itself and, at the same time, maintain responsibility to protect and safeguard the basic right of its citizens? It takes as its case study of this issue the Israeli response to Jewish extremism and violence, which tests the theoretical framework outlined in the first chapter of the book. Providing an extensive diachronic scrutiny of the State's response to extremist political parties, violent organisations and the infrastructure of extremism and intolerance within Israeli society. It emphasises the dynamics of the response and the factors which encourage or discourage the shift from less democratic and more democratic models of response. The book is unique in that it links social and institutional perspectives to the study. The book will be vital reading for students of peace studies, conflict analysis, international relations and international politics, as well as students of the political situation in the Middle east. lok: 37860942 3 101B $013-08-20 $t09:50:11.000 101C $029-11-16 101U $0utf8 145S/01 $a007 145S/02 $a760 145S/03 $a770 145Z/01 $a905 Jb 0090 Fundamentalismus 145Z/02 $a905 Gh 1300 exp: 37860942 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $014-01-22 $t22:44:48.572 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0772014841 208@/01 $a26-04-16 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/35214 $XH lok: 37860942 5 exp: 37860942 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $014-01-22 $t22:44:48.576 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $077201485X 208@/01 $a26-04-16 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/35214 $XH lok: 37860942 8 exp: 37860942 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $014-01-22 $t22:44:48.580 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0772014868 208@/01 $a26-04-16 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/35214 $XH lok: 37860942 10 exp: 37860942 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $014-01-22 $t22:44:48.584 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0772014876 208@/01 $a26-04-16 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/35214 $XH lok: 37860942 11 exp: 37860942 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $014-01-22 $t22:44:48.587 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0772014884 208@/01 $a26-04-16 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/35214 $XH lok: 37860942 20 exp: 37860942 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $014-01-22 $t22:44:48.591 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0772014906 208@/01 $a26-04-16 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/35214 $XH lok: 37860942 21 exp: 37860942 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $014-01-22 $t22:44:48.594 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0772014914 208@/01 $a26-04-16 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/35214 $XH lok: 37860942 23 exp: 37860942 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $014-01-22 $t22:44:48.597 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0772014922 208@/01 $a26-04-16 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/35214 $XH lok: 37860942 24 exp: 37860942 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $014-01-22 $t22:44:48.602 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0772014930 208@/01 $a26-04-16 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/35214 $XH lok: 37860942 25 exp: 37860942 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $014-01-22 $t22:44:48.605 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0772014949 208@/01 $a26-04-16 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/35214 $XH lok: 37860942 36 exp: 37860942 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $014-01-22 $t22:44:48.638 201C/01 $014-01-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01176839160 208@/01 $a14-01-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/35214 $XH lok: 37860942 49 exp: 37860942 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $014-01-22 $t22:44:48.609 201C/01 $024-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01102259934 208@/01 $a24-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/35214 $XH lok: 37860942 54 exp: 37860942 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $014-01-22 $t22:44:48.615 201C/01 $024-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01102259942 208@/01 $a24-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/35214 $XH lok: 37860942 107 exp: 37860942 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $014-01-22 $t22:44:48.623 201C/01 $024-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01102259950 208@/01 $a24-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/35214 $XH lok: 37860942 108 exp: 37860942 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $014-01-22 $t22:44:48.627 201C/01 $024-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01102259969 208@/01 $a24-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/35214 $XH lok: 37860942 204 exp: 37860942 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $014-01-22 $t22:44:48.630 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0772014981 208@/01 $a26-04-16 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/35214 $XH lok: 37860942 205 exp: 37860942 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $014-01-22 $t22:44:48.635 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $077201499X 208@/01 $a26-04-16 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/35214 $XH
