The study finds instead vehement conflict among three longstanding European public philosophies: liberalism, nationalism, and postmodernism. The consequential differences of outlook are demonstrated in four policy areas: 1) citizenship requirements, 2) the headscarf debate, 3) mosque-state relations and 4) counter-terrorism. The book reaches three important conclusions. First, Muslim Europeans do not represent a monolithic anti-Western bloc -- a Trojan Horse -- within Europe. They vehemently disagree among themselves but along the same basic liberal, nationalist, and postmodern contours as non-Muslim Europeans. Second, ideological discord significantly contributes to policy “messiness,” that is, to inconsistent, contradictory policies. Third, both the discord and the messiness are remarkably similar from one European country to the next, thereby casting doubt on the dominant theory in comparative migration studies that posits distinct national styles such as French republicanism, German ethno-nationalism and British multiculturalism.This title was made Open Access by libraries from around the world through Knowledge Unlatched. lok: 40250936 3 exp: 40250936 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.324 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0805482245 208@/01 $a21-04-17 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 5 exp: 40250936 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.330 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01007447761 208@/01 $a14-09-17 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 6 exp: 40250936 6 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.335 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0100744777X 208@/01 $a14-09-17 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 8 exp: 40250936 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.341 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0805482253 208@/01 $a21-04-17 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 10 exp: 40250936 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.363 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0805482261 208@/01 $a21-04-17 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 11 exp: 40250936 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.368 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01007447788 208@/01 $a14-09-17 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 13 exp: 40250936 13 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.373 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01007447796 208@/01 $a14-09-17 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 20 exp: 40250936 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.378 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $080548227X 208@/01 $a21-04-17 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 21 exp: 40250936 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.384 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01001625684 208@/01 $a23-06-17 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 23 exp: 40250936 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.388 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0805482288 208@/01 $a21-04-17 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 24 exp: 40250936 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.393 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0100744780X 208@/01 $a14-09-17 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 25 exp: 40250936 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.398 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0805482296 208@/01 $a21-04-17 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 36 exp: 40250936 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.449 201C/01 $013-01-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01176697242 208@/01 $a13-01-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 49 exp: 40250936 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.402 201C/01 $008-05-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0110535203X 208@/01 $a08-05-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 54 exp: 40250936 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.412 201C/01 $008-05-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01105352048 208@/01 $a08-05-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 69 exp: 40250936 69 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.422 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01007447842 208@/01 $a14-09-17 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 107 exp: 40250936 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.428 201C/01 $008-05-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01105352056 208@/01 $a08-05-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 108 exp: 40250936 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.434 201C/01 $008-05-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01105352064 208@/01 $a08-05-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 204 exp: 40250936 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.439 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $080548230X 208@/01 $a21-04-17 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH lok: 40250936 205 exp: 40250936 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-01-22 $t22:54:24.444 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0805482318 208@/01 $a21-04-17 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/30107 $XH
