Buch Bibliographie Cover Abstract |
In the age of digitization, public communication processes are characterized by growing dynamism. This presents communication research with considerable methodological challenges. The method development is still in its infancy when it comes to adequately mapping the tightly timed and complex interaction patterns of human actors and technical structures of the digital public. Empirical studies are forced to reduce the complexity of the dynamics in social reality in order to make them tangible. With this, however, there is always the risk of overlooking crucial aspects. The articles collected in this volume are devoted to this dilemma using the example of various fields of application, from research on communication and media content to research on reception and effects. The contributions are at different stages of the research process and deal with a variety of methodological approaches such as automated content analysis, network analysis or qualitative observation. They are united by the search for innovative solutions to a common problem, namely to adequately map the increasing dynamics of public communication processes.--book cover, translated from German.
