Haller was the author of the massive work on the Popes. Straube was the cantor for St. Thomas church in Leipzig. the 2 corresponded by letter writing in the early part of the 20th century. this work contains 60 letters between the two, with annotations and an introduction. Hallers letters about his ideas for the German country after the war.
