In this study it is argued that the long-term effects of double-talk of donors, who openly promote democracy and freedom but covertly follow overriding hidden interest, are a neglected source of failure of civic protest and democratic revolutions in autocratic regimes. The differing outcome of 'democratic revolutions' in Togo and Burkina Faso - both 'aid darlings' for decades-serves to substantiate this thesis. A systematic and holistic consideration is necessary for an unbiased evaluation of the hidden adverse impact of aid on collective action at the grassroots. Therefore, a rethinking of temporal and disciplinary 'fault lines' in development politics as well as in development studies is essential lok: 44939666 3 exp: 44939666 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $009-05-21 $t22:47:37.749 201C/01 $009-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0115216421X 208@/01 $a09-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/55982 $XH lok: 44939666 5 exp: 44939666 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $009-05-21 $t22:47:37.755 201C/01 $009-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152164228 208@/01 $a09-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/55982 $XH lok: 44939666 8 exp: 44939666 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $009-05-21 $t22:47:37.760 201C/01 $009-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152164236 208@/01 $a09-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/55982 $XH lok: 44939666 10 exp: 44939666 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $009-05-21 $t22:47:37.765 201C/01 $009-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152164244 208@/01 $a09-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/55982 $XH lok: 44939666 11 exp: 44939666 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $009-05-21 $t22:47:37.770 201C/01 $009-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152164252 208@/01 $a09-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/55982 $XH lok: 44939666 20 exp: 44939666 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $009-05-21 $t22:47:37.775 201C/01 $009-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152164260 208@/01 $a09-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/55982 $XH lok: 44939666 21 exp: 44939666 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $009-05-21 $t22:47:37.781 201C/01 $009-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152164279 208@/01 $a09-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/55982 $XH lok: 44939666 23 exp: 44939666 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $009-05-21 $t22:47:37.807 201C/01 $009-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152164287 208@/01 $a09-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/55982 $XH lok: 44939666 24 exp: 44939666 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $009-05-21 $t22:47:37.813 201C/01 $009-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152164295 208@/01 $a09-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/55982 $XH lok: 44939666 25 exp: 44939666 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $009-05-21 $t22:47:37.818 201C/01 $009-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152164309 208@/01 $a09-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/55982 $XH lok: 44939666 36 exp: 44939666 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $031-05-25 $t00:23:31.129 201C/01 $030-05-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01305030249 208@/01 $a30-05-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/55982 $XH lok: 44939666 49 exp: 44939666 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $009-05-21 $t22:47:37.823 201C/01 $009-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152164317 208@/01 $a09-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/55982 $XH lok: 44939666 54 exp: 44939666 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $009-05-21 $t22:47:37.835 201C/01 $009-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152164333 208@/01 $a09-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/55982 $XH lok: 44939666 108 exp: 44939666 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $009-05-21 $t22:47:37.858 201C/01 $009-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0115216435X 208@/01 $a09-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/55982 $XH lok: 44939666 204 exp: 44939666 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $009-05-21 $t22:47:37.864 201C/01 $009-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152164368 208@/01 $a09-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/55982 $XH lok: 44939666 205 exp: 44939666 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $009-05-21 $t22:47:37.870 201C/01 $009-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152164376 208@/01 $a09-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/55982 $XH
