For instance, inclusivity, gender equality, transitional justice, democracy promotion and the implementing instruments that accompany them are increasingly incorporated into the strategies of international and regional organizations, states and non-state actors that mandate mediation missions in conflicts around the world. This working paper takes one step back and asks whether mediators actually can, or have the agency to, promote these norms. It presents the analytical framework of a three-year multi-case research project on the role of mediators in norm diffusion. It examines what norms form part of the framework for mediation processes, if mediators promote these norms and how and what norms are internalized in the peace process. Through process-tracing, the research project will apply this analytical framework to mediation processes in Syria, South Sudan and Myanmar lok: 44943419 3 exp: 44943419 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $010-05-21 $t23:41:40.086 201C/01 $010-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152581821 208@/01 $a10-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/53852 $XH lok: 44943419 5 exp: 44943419 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $010-05-21 $t23:41:40.092 201C/01 $010-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0115258183X 208@/01 $a10-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/53852 $XH lok: 44943419 8 exp: 44943419 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $010-05-21 $t23:41:40.098 201C/01 $010-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152581848 208@/01 $a10-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/53852 $XH lok: 44943419 10 exp: 44943419 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $010-05-21 $t23:41:40.104 201C/01 $010-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152581856 208@/01 $a10-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/53852 $XH lok: 44943419 11 exp: 44943419 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $010-05-21 $t23:41:40.110 201C/01 $010-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152581864 208@/01 $a10-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/53852 $XH lok: 44943419 20 exp: 44943419 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $010-05-21 $t23:41:40.117 201C/01 $010-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152581872 208@/01 $a10-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/53852 $XH lok: 44943419 21 exp: 44943419 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $010-05-21 $t23:41:40.123 201C/01 $010-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152581880 208@/01 $a10-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/53852 $XH lok: 44943419 23 exp: 44943419 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $010-05-21 $t23:41:40.129 201C/01 $010-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152581899 208@/01 $a10-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/53852 $XH lok: 44943419 24 exp: 44943419 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $010-05-21 $t23:41:40.134 201C/01 $010-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152581902 208@/01 $a10-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/53852 $XH lok: 44943419 25 exp: 44943419 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $010-05-21 $t23:41:40.139 201C/01 $010-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152581910 208@/01 $a10-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/53852 $XH lok: 44943419 36 exp: 44943419 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-05-25 $t02:38:04.442 201C/01 $029-05-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01304996972 208@/01 $a29-05-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/53852 $XH lok: 44943419 49 exp: 44943419 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $010-05-21 $t23:41:40.146 201C/01 $010-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152581929 208@/01 $a10-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/53852 $XH lok: 44943419 54 exp: 44943419 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $010-05-21 $t23:41:40.158 201C/01 $010-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152581945 208@/01 $a10-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/53852 $XH lok: 44943419 108 exp: 44943419 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $010-05-21 $t23:41:40.170 201C/01 $010-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152581961 208@/01 $a10-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/53852 $XH lok: 44943419 204 exp: 44943419 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $010-05-21 $t23:41:40.175 201C/01 $010-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0115258197X 208@/01 $a10-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/53852 $XH lok: 44943419 205 exp: 44943419 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $010-05-21 $t23:41:40.181 201C/01 $010-05-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01152581988 208@/01 $a10-05-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/53852 $XH
