It proceeds in four steps: First, a basic model for the study of EU external policies is introduced, with its four basic elements being based on different combinations of constructivism and rationalism. Second, existing theories are categorised in accordance with the model. Third, a case study exploring the relations of three countries in the EU´s Eastern neighbourhood (Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia) with the Union is introduced, through which the practical applicability of the model is demonstrated. Fourth, the paper concludes with some theoretical remarks lok: 45173160 3 exp: 45173160 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $025-02-21 $t22:58:10.941 201C/01 $025-02-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01143827007 208@/01 $a25-02-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/13267 $XH lok: 45173160 5 exp: 45173160 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $025-02-21 $t22:58:10.950 201C/01 $025-02-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01143827015 208@/01 $a25-02-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/13267 $XH lok: 45173160 8 exp: 45173160 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $025-02-21 $t22:58:10.954 201C/01 $025-02-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01143827023 208@/01 $a25-02-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/13267 $XH lok: 45173160 10 exp: 45173160 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $025-02-21 $t22:58:10.958 201C/01 $025-02-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01143827031 208@/01 $a25-02-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/13267 $XH lok: 45173160 11 exp: 45173160 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $025-02-21 $t22:58:10.962 201C/01 $025-02-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0114382704X 208@/01 $a25-02-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/13267 $XH lok: 45173160 20 exp: 45173160 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $025-02-21 $t22:58:10.968 201C/01 $025-02-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01143827058 208@/01 $a25-02-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/13267 $XH lok: 45173160 21 exp: 45173160 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $025-02-21 $t22:58:10.971 201C/01 $025-02-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01143827066 208@/01 $a25-02-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/13267 $XH lok: 45173160 23 exp: 45173160 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $025-02-21 $t22:58:10.975 201C/01 $025-02-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01143827074 208@/01 $a25-02-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/13267 $XH lok: 45173160 24 exp: 45173160 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $025-02-21 $t22:58:10.979 201C/01 $025-02-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01143827082 208@/01 $a25-02-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/13267 $XH lok: 45173160 25 exp: 45173160 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $025-02-21 $t22:58:10.983 201C/01 $025-02-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01143827090 208@/01 $a25-02-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/13267 $XH lok: 45173160 36 exp: 45173160 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-06-25 $t11:09:19.279 201C/01 $001-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01305056299 208@/01 $a01-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/13267 $XH lok: 45173160 49 exp: 45173160 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $025-02-21 $t22:58:10.986 201C/01 $025-02-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01143827104 208@/01 $a25-02-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/13267 $XH lok: 45173160 54 exp: 45173160 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $025-02-21 $t22:58:10.993 201C/01 $025-02-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01143827120 208@/01 $a25-02-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/13267 $XH lok: 45173160 108 exp: 45173160 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $025-02-21 $t22:58:11.001 201C/01 $025-02-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01143827147 208@/01 $a25-02-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/13267 $XH lok: 45173160 204 exp: 45173160 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $025-02-21 $t22:58:11.005 201C/01 $025-02-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01143827155 208@/01 $a25-02-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/13267 $XH lok: 45173160 205 exp: 45173160 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $025-02-21 $t22:58:11.009 201C/01 $025-02-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01143827163 208@/01 $a25-02-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/handle/document/13267 $XH
