It argues that our understanding of the transnational activist would not be what it is today without the input of Central European oppositionists and ties the term to the global emergence and evolution of human rights. The book examines how we define dissidents and explores the association of political resistance to authoritarian regimes, as well as the impact of domestic and international recognition of the dissident figure. Turning to literature to analyse the meaning and impact of the dissident label, the book also incorporates interviews and primary accounts from former activists. Combining a unique theoretical approach with new empirical material, this book will appeal to students and scholars of contemporary history, politics and culture in Central Europe. lok: 45356425 50 exp: 45356425 50 1 #EPN 201B/01 $022-10-19 $t12:58:00.000 201C/01 $024-09-19 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01061455777 208@/01 $a22-10-19 $bz 209A/01 $aLT 210 $ds $f005 $x00 209C/01 $a2019.747 209G/01 $aIEG/2 $x01 247C/01 $8658005-1Mainz, Leibniz-Institut für Europäische Geschichte $9102601062 lok: 45356425 78 exp: 45356425 78 1 #EPN 201B/01 $022-05-20 $t11:50:54.000 201C/01 $022-05-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01107233194 208@/01 $a22-05-20 $be 209A/01 $a/ $f000 $x00 209A/01 $ab*p $x01 220C/01 $apgar 244Z/01 $#Ostmitteleuropa $#Ostmitteleuropa $#Mitteleuropa, Ost $#Central Europe Ostmitteleuropa $#Mittelosteuropa $74075753-5 $8--Tg1--Ostmitteleuropa $x01 $9085214485 247C/01 $82080>Marburg/Lahn, Herder-Institut, Forschungsbibliothek, Bibliographieportal $9336309341
