But the past informs the present in a myriad of ways and medievalists can, and should, use their research to address the concerns and interests of contemporary society. This volume presents a number of carefully commissioned essays that demonstrate the fertility and originality of recent work in Medieval Studies. Above all, they have been selected for relevance. Most contributors are in the earlier stages of their careers and their approaches clearly reflect how interdisciplinary methodologies applied to Medieval Studies have potential repercussions and value far beyond the boundaries of the Middles Ages. These chapters are powerful demonstrations of the value of medieval research to our own times, both in terms of providing answers to some of the specific questions facing humanity today and in terms of much broader considerations. Taken together, the research presented here also provides readers with confidence in the fact that Medieval Studies cannot be neglected without a great loss to the understanding of what it means to be human. lok: 46001353 3 101B $009-01-24 $t09:16:14.000 101C $009-01-24 101U $0utf8 145S/01 $a039 exp: 46001353 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $020-02-20 $t18:18:41.201 201C/01 $020-02-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01083338765 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a20-02-20 $bl lok: 46001353 5 exp: 46001353 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-05-20 $t22:57:50.007 201C/01 $007-05-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01104570335 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a07-05-20 $bl lok: 46001353 8 exp: 46001353 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $020-02-20 $t18:18:41.228 201C/01 $020-02-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01083338773 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a20-02-20 $bl lok: 46001353 10 exp: 46001353 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $020-02-20 $t18:18:41.252 201C/01 $020-02-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01083338781 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a20-02-20 $bl lok: 46001353 11 exp: 46001353 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $022-02-20 $t22:22:42.222 201C/01 $022-02-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01083924397 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a22-02-20 $bl lok: 46001353 13 exp: 46001353 13 1 #EPN 201B/01 $022-02-20 $t22:22:42.233 201C/01 $022-02-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01083924400 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a22-02-20 $bl lok: 46001353 21 exp: 46001353 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $020-02-20 $t18:18:41.290 201C/01 $020-02-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01083338803 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a20-02-20 $bl lok: 46001353 23 exp: 46001353 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $020-02-20 $t18:18:41.324 201C/01 $020-02-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01083338811 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a20-02-20 $bl lok: 46001353 24 exp: 46001353 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $022-02-20 $t22:22:42.253 201C/01 $022-02-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01083924419 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a22-02-20 $bl lok: 46001353 25 exp: 46001353 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $020-02-20 $t18:18:41.344 201C/01 $020-02-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0108333882X 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a20-02-20 $bl lok: 46001353 36 exp: 46001353 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $011-10-24 $t23:38:46.451 201C/01 $011-10-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01277239851 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a11-10-24 $bl lok: 46001353 51 exp: 46001353 51 1 #EPN 201B/01 $022-02-20 $t22:22:42.277 201C/01 $022-02-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01083924435 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a22-02-20 $bl lok: 46001353 59 exp: 46001353 59 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-05-20 $t22:57:50.053 201C/01 $007-05-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01104570343 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a07-05-20 $bl lok: 46001353 74 exp: 46001353 74 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-05-20 $t22:57:50.067 201C/01 $007-05-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01104570351 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a07-05-20 $bl lok: 46001353 75 exp: 46001353 75 1 #EPN 201B/01 $022-02-20 $t22:22:42.309 201C/01 $022-02-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01083924451 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a22-02-20 $bl lok: 46001353 107 exp: 46001353 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $022-02-20 $t22:22:42.329 201C/01 $022-02-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0108392446X 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a22-02-20 $bl lok: 46001353 108 exp: 46001353 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-05-20 $t22:57:50.069 201C/01 $007-05-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0110457036X 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a07-05-20 $bl lok: 46001353 204 exp: 46001353 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $020-02-20 $t18:18:41.372 201C/01 $020-02-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01083338838 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a20-02-20 $bl lok: 46001353 205 exp: 46001353 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $020-02-20 $t18:18:41.412 201C/01 $020-02-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01083338846 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110546316 $S0 208@/01 $a20-02-20 $bl
