The collapse of Communism called for a new US Grand Strategy to address the emerging geopolitical era that brought upheavals in Somalia and the Balkans, economic challenges in Mexico and Europe and the emergence of new entities such as the EU, NAFTA and the WTO. Clinton's handling of these events was crucial to the development of world politics at the dawn of the twenty-first century. Only by understanding Clinton's efforts to address the challenges of the post-Cold War era can we understand the strategies of his immediate successors, George W. Bush and Barack Obama, both of whom inherited and continued Clinton-era policies and practices. James D. Boys sheds new light on the evolution and execution of US Grand Strategy from 1993 to 2001. He explores the manner in which policy was devised and examines the actors responsible for its development, including Bill Clinton, Anthony Lake, Samuel Berger, Warren Christopher, Madeline Albright and Richard Holbrook. He examines the core components of the strategy (National Security, Prosperity Promotion and Democracy Promotion) and how they were implemented, revealing a hitherto unexplored continuity from campaign trail to the White House. Covering the entire duration of Clinton's presidential odyssey, from his 1991 Announcement Speech to his final day in office, the book draws extensively on newly declassified primary materials and interviews by the author with key members of the Clinton administration to reveal for the first time the development and implementation of US Grand Strategy from deep within the West Wing of the Clinton White House. lok: 46191726 3 101B $023-06-23 $t09:24:56.000 101C $023-06-23 101U $0utf8 145S/01 $a007 exp: 46191726 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.498 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01090534809 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 5 exp: 46191726 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.503 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01090534817 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 8 exp: 46191726 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.507 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01090534825 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 10 exp: 46191726 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.511 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01090534833 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 11 exp: 46191726 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.515 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01090534841 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 13 exp: 46191726 13 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.519 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0109053485X 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 20 exp: 46191726 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.523 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01090534868 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 21 exp: 46191726 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.526 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01090534876 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 23 exp: 46191726 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.531 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01090534884 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 24 exp: 46191726 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.535 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01090534892 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 25 exp: 46191726 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.538 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01090534906 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 36 exp: 46191726 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.592 201C/01 $003-12-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01174001321 208@/01 $a03-12-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 49 exp: 46191726 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.543 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01090534914 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 51 exp: 46191726 51 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.550 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01090534930 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 54 exp: 46191726 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.554 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01090534949 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 59 exp: 46191726 59 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.563 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01090534965 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 75 exp: 46191726 75 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.570 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01090534981 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 107 exp: 46191726 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.574 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0109053499X 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 108 exp: 46191726 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.579 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01090535007 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 204 exp: 46191726 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.583 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01090535015 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH lok: 46191726 205 exp: 46191726 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $003-12-21 $t22:40:51.588 201C/01 $001-04-20 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01090535023 208@/01 $a01-04-20 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://doi.org/10.5040/9781472528780 $XH
