Die Mitarbeiter_innen der Bibliothek, die sich in dem von Maria Seissl maßgeblich gestalteten Umfeld als »Menschen im Aufbruch« begreifen, beschreiben und analysieren in ihren Beiträgen die Entwicklung der Universitätsbibliothek Wien in einer Periode historischer Umbrüche: Zu Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts galt es, den Wandel von einer staatlichen Institution zu einer universitären Dienstleistungseinrichtung zu gestalten.
