Channel Three was the first fully commercial television channel in the Nordic countries, founded and owned by a group of odd bedfellows: the public broadcaster YLE, its long standing commercial companion MTV and a growing electronics giant Nokia. The plans to start a commercial TV station were first severely opposed by leading politicians, but it was finally approved as a means to fight back international satellite channels and the efforts of major newspaper companies to enter the television market. Drawing from media policy studies and based on archive documents, contemporary media coverage and interviews of the main actors, the book provides a thorough analysis of the stages of Channel Three, indicating how it, despite its short lifespan, contributed profoundly to the commercialization and marketization of television in Finland. lok: 48313159 3 exp: 48313159 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:27:52.677 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163111724 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30883 $XH lok: 48313159 5 exp: 48313159 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:27:52.682 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163111732 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30883 $XH lok: 48313159 8 exp: 48313159 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:27:52.686 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163111740 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30883 $XH lok: 48313159 10 exp: 48313159 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:27:52.691 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163111759 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30883 $XH lok: 48313159 11 exp: 48313159 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:27:52.695 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163111767 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30883 $XH lok: 48313159 20 exp: 48313159 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:27:52.700 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163111775 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30883 $XH lok: 48313159 21 exp: 48313159 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:27:52.705 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163111783 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30883 $XH lok: 48313159 23 exp: 48313159 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:27:52.709 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163111791 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30883 $XH lok: 48313159 24 exp: 48313159 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:27:52.714 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163111805 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30883 $XH lok: 48313159 25 exp: 48313159 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:27:52.718 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163111813 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30883 $XH lok: 48313159 36 exp: 48313159 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:27:52.723 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163111821 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30883 $XH lok: 48313159 49 exp: 48313159 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:27:52.727 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0116311183X 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30883 $XH lok: 48313159 54 exp: 48313159 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:27:52.736 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163111856 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30883 $XH lok: 48313159 108 exp: 48313159 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:27:52.747 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163111872 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30883 $XH lok: 48313159 204 exp: 48313159 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:27:52.752 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163111880 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30883 $XH lok: 48313159 205 exp: 48313159 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:27:52.770 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163111899 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30883 $XH
