It also addresses the conditions under which norms governing citizenship can legitimately vary. The book discusses the principles of including all affected interests (AAI), all subject to coercion (ASC) and all citizenship stakeholders (ACS). They complement each other because they serve distinct purposes of democratic inclusion. The book proposes that democratic inclusion principles specify a relation between an individual or group that has an inclusion claim and a political community that aims to achieve democratic legitimacy for its political decisions and institutions. It contextualizes the principle of stakeholder inclusion, which provides the best answer to the question of democratic boundaries of membership, by applying it to polities of different types. The book distinguishes state, local and regional polities and argues that they differ in their membership character. It examines how a principle of stakeholder inclusion applies to polities of different types. The book illustrates the difference between consensual and automatic modes of inclusion by considering the contrast between birthright acquisition of citizenship, which is generally automatic, and naturalization, which requires an application. lok: 48313704 3 exp: 48313704 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:29:11.273 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163206237 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/27436 $XH lok: 48313704 5 exp: 48313704 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:29:11.282 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163206245 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/27436 $XH lok: 48313704 8 exp: 48313704 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:29:11.291 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163206253 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/27436 $XH lok: 48313704 10 exp: 48313704 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:29:11.298 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163206261 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/27436 $XH lok: 48313704 11 exp: 48313704 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:29:11.306 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0116320627X 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/27436 $XH lok: 48313704 20 exp: 48313704 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:29:11.313 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163206288 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/27436 $XH lok: 48313704 21 exp: 48313704 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:29:11.322 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163206296 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/27436 $XH lok: 48313704 23 exp: 48313704 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:29:11.329 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0116320630X 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/27436 $XH lok: 48313704 24 exp: 48313704 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:29:11.336 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163206318 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/27436 $XH lok: 48313704 25 exp: 48313704 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:29:11.343 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163206326 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/27436 $XH lok: 48313704 36 exp: 48313704 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:29:11.350 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163206334 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/27436 $XH lok: 48313704 49 exp: 48313704 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:29:11.358 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163206342 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/27436 $XH lok: 48313704 54 exp: 48313704 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:29:11.372 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163206369 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/27436 $XH lok: 48313704 108 exp: 48313704 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:29:11.391 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163206385 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/27436 $XH lok: 48313704 204 exp: 48313704 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:29:11.400 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163206393 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/27436 $XH lok: 48313704 205 exp: 48313704 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:29:11.407 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163206407 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/27436 $XH
