This volume compares British, German, Swedish and Finnish debates on revolution, rule by the people, democracy and parliamentarism and their transnational links. The British reform, although more about winning the war than advancing democracy, restored parliamentary legitimacy, unlike in Germany, where Allied demands for democratisation made reform appear treasonous and fostered native German solutions. Sweden only adopted Western political models after major confrontations, but reforms saw it embark on its path to Social Democracy. In Finland, competing Russian revolutionary discourses and German- and Swedish-inspired appeals to legality brought about the deterioration of parliamentary legitimacy and a civil war. Only a republican compromise imposed by the Entente, following a royalist initiative in 1918, led to the construction of a viable polity. lok: 48314458 3 exp: 48314458 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:31:25.826 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163338508 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30879 $XH lok: 48314458 5 exp: 48314458 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:31:25.834 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163338516 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30879 $XH lok: 48314458 8 exp: 48314458 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:31:25.842 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163338524 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30879 $XH lok: 48314458 10 exp: 48314458 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:31:25.851 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163338532 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30879 $XH lok: 48314458 11 exp: 48314458 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:31:25.860 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163338540 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30879 $XH lok: 48314458 13 exp: 48314458 13 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:31:25.870 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163338559 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30879 $XH lok: 48314458 21 exp: 48314458 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:31:25.889 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163338575 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30879 $XH lok: 48314458 23 exp: 48314458 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:31:25.897 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163338583 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30879 $XH lok: 48314458 24 exp: 48314458 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:31:25.909 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163338591 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30879 $XH lok: 48314458 25 exp: 48314458 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:31:25.918 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163338605 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30879 $XH lok: 48314458 36 exp: 48314458 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:31:25.926 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163338613 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30879 $XH lok: 48314458 51 exp: 48314458 51 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:31:25.942 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0116333863X 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30879 $XH lok: 48314458 59 exp: 48314458 59 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:31:25.958 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163338656 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30879 $XH lok: 48314458 75 exp: 48314458 75 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:31:25.974 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163338672 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30879 $XH lok: 48314458 107 exp: 48314458 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:31:25.981 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163338680 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30879 $XH lok: 48314458 108 exp: 48314458 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:31:25.989 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163338699 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30879 $XH lok: 48314458 204 exp: 48314458 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:31:25.997 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163338702 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30879 $XH lok: 48314458 205 exp: 48314458 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-08-21 $t23:31:26.005 201C/01 $004-08-21 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01163338710 208@/01 $a04-08-21 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttp://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30879 $XH
