These methods visualize airflow by visualizing density gradients in transparent media. The playing of professional woodwind and brass instrument players, as well as professional classical trained singers were investigated to estimate the spread distances of the breathing air. For a better comparison and consistent measurement series, a single high note, a single low note, and an extract of a musical piece were investigated. Additionally, anemometry was used to determine the velocity of the spreading breathing air and the extent to which it was quantifiable. The results showed that the ejected airflow from the examined instruments and singers did not exceed a spreading range of 1.2 m into the room. However, differences in the various instruments have to be considered to assess properly the spread of the breathing air. The findings discussed below help to estimate the risk of cross-infection for wind instrument players and singers and to develop efficacious safety precautions, which is essential during critical health periods such as the current COVID-19 pandemic lok: 48928244 3 exp: 48928244 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-01-22 $t22:42:07.492 201C/01 $007-01-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01176155865 208@/01 $a07-01-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/219129 $XH lok: 48928244 5 exp: 48928244 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $011-02-22 $t18:19:35.066 201C/01 $011-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01182322549 208@/01 $a11-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/219129 $XH lok: 48928244 8 exp: 48928244 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-01-22 $t22:42:07.497 201C/01 $007-01-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01176155873 208@/01 $a07-01-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/219129 $XH lok: 48928244 10 exp: 48928244 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-01-22 $t22:42:07.502 201C/01 $007-01-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01176155881 208@/01 $a07-01-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/219129 $XH lok: 48928244 11 exp: 48928244 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-01-22 $t22:42:07.508 201C/01 $007-01-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0117615589X 208@/01 $a07-01-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/219129 $XH lok: 48928244 13 exp: 48928244 13 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-01-22 $t22:42:07.513 201C/01 $007-01-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01176155903 208@/01 $a07-01-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/219129 $XH lok: 48928244 21 exp: 48928244 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-01-22 $t22:42:07.524 201C/01 $007-01-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0117615592X 208@/01 $a07-01-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/219129 $XH lok: 48928244 23 exp: 48928244 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-01-22 $t22:42:07.547 201C/01 $007-01-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01176155938 208@/01 $a07-01-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/219129 $XH lok: 48928244 24 exp: 48928244 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-01-22 $t22:42:07.602 201C/01 $007-01-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01176155946 208@/01 $a07-01-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/219129 $XH lok: 48928244 25 exp: 48928244 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-01-22 $t22:42:07.607 201C/01 $007-01-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01176155954 208@/01 $a07-01-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/219129 $XH lok: 48928244 51 exp: 48928244 51 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-01-22 $t22:42:07.612 201C/01 $007-01-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01176155962 208@/01 $a07-01-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/219129 $XH lok: 48928244 58 exp: 48928244 58 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-01-22 $t22:42:07.617 201C/01 $007-01-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01176155970 208@/01 $a07-01-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/219129 $XH lok: 48928244 76 exp: 48928244 76 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-01-22 $t22:42:07.622 201C/01 $007-01-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01176155989 208@/01 $a07-01-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/219129 $XH lok: 48928244 77 exp: 48928244 77 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-03-22 $t22:53:00.412 201C/01 $001-03-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01183835949 208@/01 $a01-03-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/219129 $XH lok: 48928244 107 exp: 48928244 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-01-22 $t22:42:07.628 201C/01 $007-01-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01176155997 208@/01 $a07-01-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/219129 $XH lok: 48928244 204 exp: 48928244 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-01-22 $t22:42:07.633 201C/01 $007-01-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01176156004 208@/01 $a07-01-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/219129 $XH lok: 48928244 205 exp: 48928244 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-01-22 $t22:42:07.639 201C/01 $007-01-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01176156012 208@/01 $a07-01-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/219129 $XH
