This article systematically explains what the biopolitical lens offers for analyzing and normatively criticizing the politics of the coronavirus. I argue that biopolitics are politics of differentiated vulnerability that are intrinsic to capitalist modernity. The situation resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic is, therefore, less of a state of exception than it might appear; COVID-19 is a continuation and intensification of the capitalist biopolitics of differentiated vulnerability. In order to critically evaluate this situation, the article proposes the concept of "democratic biopolitics" and shows how it can be used, among others, for a queer critique of the differentiated vulnerabilities that are produced by the coronavirus and its capitalist governance. In contrast to widespread interpretations of democratic biopolitics that focus on collective care in communities, this article highlights the role of the state and of the redistribution of political power and economic resources as key for biopolitical democratization lok: 49053607 3 exp: 49053607 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-02-22 $t23:16:47.149 201C/01 $004-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01181708117 208@/01 $a04-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/223906 $XH lok: 49053607 5 exp: 49053607 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-02-22 $t23:16:47.154 201C/01 $004-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01181708125 208@/01 $a04-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/223906 $XH lok: 49053607 8 exp: 49053607 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-02-22 $t23:16:47.158 201C/01 $004-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01181708133 208@/01 $a04-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/223906 $XH lok: 49053607 10 exp: 49053607 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-02-22 $t23:16:47.163 201C/01 $004-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01181708141 208@/01 $a04-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/223906 $XH lok: 49053607 11 exp: 49053607 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-02-22 $t23:16:47.166 201C/01 $004-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0118170815X 208@/01 $a04-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/223906 $XH lok: 49053607 20 exp: 49053607 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-02-22 $t23:16:47.171 201C/01 $004-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01181708168 208@/01 $a04-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/223906 $XH lok: 49053607 21 exp: 49053607 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-02-22 $t23:16:47.175 201C/01 $004-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01181708176 208@/01 $a04-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/223906 $XH lok: 49053607 23 exp: 49053607 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-02-22 $t23:16:47.179 201C/01 $004-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01181708184 208@/01 $a04-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/223906 $XH lok: 49053607 24 exp: 49053607 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-02-22 $t23:16:47.183 201C/01 $004-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01181708192 208@/01 $a04-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/223906 $XH lok: 49053607 25 exp: 49053607 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-02-22 $t23:16:47.187 201C/01 $004-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01181708206 208@/01 $a04-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/223906 $XH lok: 49053607 36 exp: 49053607 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-02-22 $t23:16:47.191 201C/01 $004-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01181708214 208@/01 $a04-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/223906 $XH lok: 49053607 49 exp: 49053607 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-02-22 $t23:16:47.196 201C/01 $004-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01181708222 208@/01 $a04-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/223906 $XH lok: 49053607 54 exp: 49053607 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-02-22 $t23:16:47.204 201C/01 $004-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01181708249 208@/01 $a04-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/223906 $XH lok: 49053607 108 exp: 49053607 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-02-22 $t23:16:47.215 201C/01 $004-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01181708265 208@/01 $a04-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/223906 $XH lok: 49053607 204 exp: 49053607 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-02-22 $t23:16:47.219 201C/01 $004-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01181708273 208@/01 $a04-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/223906 $XH lok: 49053607 205 exp: 49053607 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $004-02-22 $t23:16:47.222 201C/01 $004-02-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01181708281 208@/01 $a04-02-22 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/223906 $XH
