The editors of this volume aspire to fill this gap and gather papers which offer an overall view of the Greco-Roman readership and of its interaction with ancient historians. The authors of this book endeavor to define the physiognomy of the audience of history in the Roman Era both by exploring the narrative arrangement of ancient historical prose and by using sources in which Greco-Roman intellectuals address the issue of the readership of history. Ancient historians shaped their accounts taking into consideration their readers' tastes, and this is evident on many different levels, such as the way a historian fashions his authorial image, addresses his readers, or uses certain compositional strategies to elicit the readers' affective and cognitive responses to his messages. The papers of this volume analyze these narrative aspects and contextualize them within their socio-political environment in order to reveal the ways ancient readerships interacted with and affected Greco-Roman historical prose. lok: 49797074 3 exp: 49797074 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-08-22 $t03:21:48.309 201C/01 $007-08-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01212003659 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110764062 $S0 208@/01 $a07-08-22 $bl lok: 49797074 5 exp: 49797074 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-08-22 $t03:21:48.312 201C/01 $007-08-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01212003667 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110764062 $S0 208@/01 $a07-08-22 $bl lok: 49797074 8 exp: 49797074 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-08-22 $t03:21:48.315 201C/01 $007-08-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01212003675 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110764062 $S0 208@/01 $a07-08-22 $bl lok: 49797074 10 exp: 49797074 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-08-22 $t03:21:48.317 201C/01 $007-08-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01212003683 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110764062 $S0 208@/01 $a07-08-22 $bl lok: 49797074 11 exp: 49797074 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-08-22 $t03:21:48.320 201C/01 $007-08-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01212003691 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110764062 $S0 208@/01 $a07-08-22 $bl lok: 49797074 13 exp: 49797074 13 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-08-22 $t03:21:48.323 201C/01 $007-08-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01212003705 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110764062 $S0 208@/01 $a07-08-22 $bl lok: 49797074 21 exp: 49797074 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-08-22 $t03:21:48.328 201C/01 $007-08-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01212003721 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110764062 $S0 208@/01 $a07-08-22 $bl lok: 49797074 23 exp: 49797074 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-08-22 $t03:21:48.331 201C/01 $007-08-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0121200373X 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110764062 $S0 208@/01 $a07-08-22 $bl lok: 49797074 24 exp: 49797074 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-08-22 $t03:21:48.334 201C/01 $007-08-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01212003748 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110764062 $S0 208@/01 $a07-08-22 $bl lok: 49797074 25 exp: 49797074 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-08-22 $t03:21:48.337 201C/01 $007-08-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01212003756 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110764062 $S0 208@/01 $a07-08-22 $bl lok: 49797074 36 exp: 49797074 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-08-22 $t03:21:48.340 201C/01 $007-08-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01212003764 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110764062 $S0 208@/01 $a07-08-22 $bl lok: 49797074 50 exp: 49797074 50 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-08-22 $t03:21:48.342 201C/01 $007-08-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01212003772 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110764062 $S0 208@/01 $a07-08-22 $bl lok: 49797074 54 exp: 49797074 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-08-22 $t03:21:48.345 201C/01 $007-08-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01212003780 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110764062 $S0 208@/01 $a07-08-22 $bl lok: 49797074 71 exp: 49797074 71 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-08-22 $t03:21:48.347 201C/01 $007-08-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01212003799 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110764062 $S0 208@/01 $a07-08-22 $bl lok: 49797074 75 exp: 49797074 75 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-08-22 $t03:21:48.350 201C/01 $007-08-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01212003802 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110764062 $S0 208@/01 $a07-08-22 $bl lok: 49797074 107 exp: 49797074 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-08-22 $t03:21:48.352 201C/01 $007-08-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01212003810 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110764062 $S0 208@/01 $a07-08-22 $bl lok: 49797074 204 exp: 49797074 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-08-22 $t03:21:48.355 201C/01 $007-08-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01212003829 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110764062 $S0 208@/01 $a07-08-22 $bl lok: 49797074 205 exp: 49797074 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-08-22 $t03:21:48.358 201C/01 $007-08-22 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01212003837 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110764062 $S0 208@/01 $a07-08-22 $bl
