This book turns to a particular ethnographic reading of Michel Foucault's Governmentality and investigates its usefulness to study precisely those mechanisms, processes and practices that hybridity once promised to clarify. Claim-making to land and authority in a post-conflict environment is the empirical grist supporting this exploration of governmentality. Specifically in the periphery of Bukavu. This focus is relevant as urban land is increasingly becoming scarce in rapidly expanding cities of eastern Congo, primarily due to internal rural-to-urban migration as a result of regional insecurity. The governance of urban land is also important analytically as land governance and state authority in Africa are believed to be closely linked and co-evolve. An ethnographic reading of governmentality enables researchers to study hybridization without biasing analysis towards hierarchical dualities. Additionally, a better understanding of hybridization in the claim-making practices may contribute to improved government intervention and development assistance in Bukavu and elsewhere. lok: 50123028 3 exp: 50123028 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.885 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468521 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 5 exp: 50123028 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.888 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0127946853X 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 8 exp: 50123028 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.891 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468548 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 10 exp: 50123028 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.894 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468556 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 11 exp: 50123028 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.896 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468564 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 13 exp: 50123028 13 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.898 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468572 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 20 exp: 50123028 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.901 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468580 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 21 exp: 50123028 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.903 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468599 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 23 exp: 50123028 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $007-04-25 $t22:36:24.000 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468483 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 24 exp: 50123028 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.906 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468602 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 25 exp: 50123028 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $008-01-26 $t22:05:17.000 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468491 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 36 exp: 50123028 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.909 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468610 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 49 exp: 50123028 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.912 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468629 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 51 exp: 50123028 51 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.916 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468645 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 54 exp: 50123028 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.919 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468653 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 59 exp: 50123028 59 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.926 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0127946867X 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 69 exp: 50123028 69 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.929 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468688 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 75 exp: 50123028 75 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.935 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0127946870X 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 76 exp: 50123028 76 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.938 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468718 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 107 exp: 50123028 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.941 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468726 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 108 exp: 50123028 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-11-24 $t02:27:06.943 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468734 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 204 exp: 50123028 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $013-08-25 $t21:45:10.000 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468505 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl lok: 50123028 205 exp: 50123028 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-03-25 $t23:04:17.000 201C/01 $001-11-24 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01279468513 204P/01 $010.1515/9783110734539 $S0 208@/01 $a01-11-24 $bl
