International law may once have been a sort of inter-state law concerned mostly with relations between states, but it now looks increasingly inside state borders and has become, to a large degree, a trans-governmental law. While this creates significant challenges even for highly-unified «nation-states», the challenges are even greater for federations in which powers have been divided up between the central government and federated states. What roles should central governments and federated states play in creating and implementing this new form of governance? Using the Canadian federation as its starting point, this case study illustrates a range of factors to be considered in the appropriate distribution of treaty powers within a federation. Professor Cyr also shows how – because it has no specific provisions dealing with the distribution of treaty powers – the Canadian constitution has «organically» developed a tight-knit set of rules and principles responding to these distributional factors. This book is therefore both about the role of federated states in the current world order and an illustration of how organic constitutionalism works. lok: 50693584 3 exp: 50693584 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $016-04-23 $t22:29:26.628 201C/01 $016-04-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01232352802 204P/01 $010.3726/b17893 $S0 208@/01 $a16-04-23 $bl lok: 50693584 5 exp: 50693584 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $012-05-23 $t06:54:01.000 201C/01 $016-04-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01232352810 204P/01 $010.3726/b17893 $S0 208@/01 $a16-04-23 $bl lok: 50693584 8 exp: 50693584 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $016-04-23 $t22:29:26.634 201C/01 $016-04-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01232352829 204P/01 $010.3726/b17893 $S0 208@/01 $a16-04-23 $bl lok: 50693584 10 exp: 50693584 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $016-04-23 $t22:29:26.638 201C/01 $016-04-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01232352837 204P/01 $010.3726/b17893 $S0 208@/01 $a16-04-23 $bl lok: 50693584 11 exp: 50693584 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $016-04-23 $t22:29:26.641 201C/01 $016-04-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01232352845 204P/01 $010.3726/b17893 $S0 208@/01 $a16-04-23 $bl lok: 50693584 20 exp: 50693584 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $016-04-23 $t22:29:26.643 201C/01 $016-04-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01232352853 204P/01 $010.3726/b17893 $S0 208@/01 $a16-04-23 $bl lok: 50693584 21 exp: 50693584 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $016-04-23 $t22:29:26.646 201C/01 $016-04-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01232352861 204P/01 $010.3726/b17893 $S0 208@/01 $a16-04-23 $bl lok: 50693584 23 exp: 50693584 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $016-04-23 $t22:29:26.648 201C/01 $016-04-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0123235287X 204P/01 $010.3726/b17893 $S0 208@/01 $a16-04-23 $bl lok: 50693584 24 exp: 50693584 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $016-04-23 $t22:29:26.651 201C/01 $016-04-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01232352888 204P/01 $010.3726/b17893 $S0 208@/01 $a16-04-23 $bl lok: 50693584 25 exp: 50693584 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $016-04-23 $t22:29:26.654 201C/01 $016-04-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01232352896 204P/01 $010.3726/b17893 $S0 208@/01 $a16-04-23 $bl lok: 50693584 36 exp: 50693584 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $016-04-23 $t22:29:26.656 201C/01 $016-04-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0123235290X 204P/01 $010.3726/b17893 $S0 208@/01 $a16-04-23 $bl lok: 50693584 49 exp: 50693584 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $016-04-23 $t22:29:26.659 201C/01 $016-04-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01232352918 204P/01 $010.3726/b17893 $S0 208@/01 $a16-04-23 $bl lok: 50693584 54 exp: 50693584 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $016-04-23 $t22:29:26.665 201C/01 $016-04-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01232352934 204P/01 $010.3726/b17893 $S0 208@/01 $a16-04-23 $bl lok: 50693584 107 exp: 50693584 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $016-04-23 $t22:29:26.670 201C/01 $016-04-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01232352950 204P/01 $010.3726/b17893 $S0 208@/01 $a16-04-23 $bl lok: 50693584 108 exp: 50693584 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $016-04-23 $t22:29:26.673 201C/01 $016-04-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01232352969 204P/01 $010.3726/b17893 $S0 208@/01 $a16-04-23 $bl lok: 50693584 204 exp: 50693584 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $016-04-23 $t22:29:26.676 201C/01 $016-04-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01232352977 204P/01 $010.3726/b17893 $S0 208@/01 $a16-04-23 $bl lok: 50693584 205 exp: 50693584 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $016-04-23 $t22:29:26.679 201C/01 $016-04-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01232352985 204P/01 $010.3726/b17893 $S0 208@/01 $a16-04-23 $bl
