This book addresses the role of rural communities as non-state actors, lifting this invisibility veil with arguments coming from three theories of/scholarly approaches to international law: positivism, sociolegal realism (the New Haven School), and constitutionalism. It argues, first, that rural communities are recognised by the community of states as derived subjects of international law since they are made bearers of rights and duties in some major multilateral treaties. Second, rural communities have the ability to affect international lawmaking as they acquire the tools to influence decision-making in international arbitration and court litigation. Finally, the book highlights the need to recognise the status of rural communities when seeking global justice, as these are the communities that benefit the least from globalisation, while paying the highest price in terms of damage to the natural and sociocultural environment. Advocating for the existence of some supreme norms above the will of the states and the recognition of rural communities as non-state actors, this book will be of interest to academics, policy-makers, and non-governmental organisations working in the field of public international law and rural social matters lok: 50891799 3 exp: 50891799 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $022-11-23 $t22:35:10.000 201C/01 $021-11-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01248609034 204P/01 $010.4324/9781003385318 $S0 208@/01 $a21-11-23 $bl lok: 50891799 5 exp: 50891799 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $021-11-23 $t23:17:54.954 201C/01 $021-11-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01248609042 204P/01 $010.4324/9781003385318 $S0 208@/01 $a21-11-23 $bl lok: 50891799 8 exp: 50891799 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $021-11-23 $t23:17:54.959 201C/01 $021-11-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01248609050 204P/01 $010.4324/9781003385318 $S0 208@/01 $a21-11-23 $bl lok: 50891799 10 exp: 50891799 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $021-11-23 $t23:17:54.962 201C/01 $021-11-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01248609069 204P/01 $010.4324/9781003385318 $S0 208@/01 $a21-11-23 $bl lok: 50891799 11 exp: 50891799 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $021-11-23 $t23:17:54.964 201C/01 $021-11-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01248609077 204P/01 $010.4324/9781003385318 $S0 208@/01 $a21-11-23 $bl lok: 50891799 20 exp: 50891799 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $021-11-23 $t23:17:54.966 201C/01 $021-11-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01248609085 204P/01 $010.4324/9781003385318 $S0 208@/01 $a21-11-23 $bl lok: 50891799 21 exp: 50891799 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $021-11-23 $t23:17:54.969 201C/01 $021-11-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01248609093 204P/01 $010.4324/9781003385318 $S0 208@/01 $a21-11-23 $bl lok: 50891799 23 exp: 50891799 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $021-11-23 $t23:17:54.971 201C/01 $021-11-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01248609107 204P/01 $010.4324/9781003385318 $S0 208@/01 $a21-11-23 $bl lok: 50891799 24 exp: 50891799 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $021-11-23 $t23:17:54.974 201C/01 $021-11-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01248609115 204P/01 $010.4324/9781003385318 $S0 208@/01 $a21-11-23 $bl lok: 50891799 25 exp: 50891799 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $021-11-23 $t23:17:54.976 201C/01 $021-11-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01248609123 204P/01 $010.4324/9781003385318 $S0 208@/01 $a21-11-23 $bl lok: 50891799 36 exp: 50891799 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $021-11-23 $t23:17:54.979 201C/01 $021-11-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01248609131 204P/01 $010.4324/9781003385318 $S0 208@/01 $a21-11-23 $bl lok: 50891799 49 exp: 50891799 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $021-11-23 $t23:17:54.982 201C/01 $021-11-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0124860914X 204P/01 $010.4324/9781003385318 $S0 208@/01 $a21-11-23 $bl lok: 50891799 54 exp: 50891799 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $021-11-23 $t23:17:54.987 201C/01 $021-11-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01248609166 204P/01 $010.4324/9781003385318 $S0 208@/01 $a21-11-23 $bl lok: 50891799 107 exp: 50891799 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $021-11-23 $t23:17:54.992 201C/01 $021-11-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01248609182 204P/01 $010.4324/9781003385318 $S0 208@/01 $a21-11-23 $bl lok: 50891799 108 exp: 50891799 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $021-11-23 $t23:17:54.995 201C/01 $021-11-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01248609190 204P/01 $010.4324/9781003385318 $S0 208@/01 $a21-11-23 $bl lok: 50891799 204 exp: 50891799 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $021-11-23 $t23:17:54.997 201C/01 $021-11-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01248609204 204P/01 $010.4324/9781003385318 $S0 208@/01 $a21-11-23 $bl lok: 50891799 205 exp: 50891799 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $021-11-23 $t23:17:55.000 201C/01 $021-11-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01248609212 204P/01 $010.4324/9781003385318 $S0 208@/01 $a21-11-23 $bl
