In May 2017, after more than three years of negotiation, the European Union signedthe new Conflict Minerals Regulation. Atfirst glance, this Regulation demonstrates ‘ethical’ or ‘normative’ power: The EU uses its commercial power to promote norms of international peace and security, accepting prospectively higher prices for importsof minerals. The Regulation also supports a recentring of the state after two and a half decades of economic liberalization. However, the EU only follows and lags behind the 2010 US Dodd-Frank Act section 1502. The article shows that the EU doesnot reject collective norms, but is incapable or unwilling to put a tight rein on domestic businesses. The new EU Conflict Minerals Regulation stands only for symbolic normative power lok: 51056533 3 exp: 51056533 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $011-08-23 $t03:30:24.407 201C/01 $011-08-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01241543747 208@/01 $a11-08-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/144841 $XH lok: 51056533 5 exp: 51056533 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $011-08-23 $t03:30:24.410 201C/01 $011-08-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01241543755 208@/01 $a11-08-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/144841 $XH lok: 51056533 8 exp: 51056533 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $011-08-23 $t03:30:24.414 201C/01 $011-08-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01241543763 208@/01 $a11-08-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/144841 $XH lok: 51056533 10 exp: 51056533 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $011-08-23 $t03:30:24.417 201C/01 $011-08-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01241543771 208@/01 $a11-08-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/144841 $XH lok: 51056533 11 exp: 51056533 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $011-08-23 $t03:30:24.420 201C/01 $011-08-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0124154378X 208@/01 $a11-08-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/144841 $XH lok: 51056533 20 exp: 51056533 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $011-08-23 $t03:30:24.422 201C/01 $011-08-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01241543798 208@/01 $a11-08-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/144841 $XH lok: 51056533 21 exp: 51056533 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $011-08-23 $t03:30:24.425 201C/01 $011-08-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01241543801 208@/01 $a11-08-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/144841 $XH lok: 51056533 23 exp: 51056533 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $011-08-23 $t03:30:24.428 201C/01 $011-08-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0124154381X 208@/01 $a11-08-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/144841 $XH lok: 51056533 24 exp: 51056533 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $011-08-23 $t03:30:24.430 201C/01 $011-08-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01241543828 208@/01 $a11-08-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/144841 $XH lok: 51056533 25 exp: 51056533 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $011-08-23 $t03:30:24.433 201C/01 $011-08-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01241543836 208@/01 $a11-08-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/144841 $XH lok: 51056533 36 exp: 51056533 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $011-08-23 $t03:30:24.436 201C/01 $011-08-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01241543844 208@/01 $a11-08-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/144841 $XH lok: 51056533 49 exp: 51056533 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $011-08-23 $t03:30:24.439 201C/01 $011-08-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01241543852 208@/01 $a11-08-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/144841 $XH lok: 51056533 54 exp: 51056533 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $011-08-23 $t03:30:24.444 201C/01 $011-08-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01241543879 208@/01 $a11-08-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/144841 $XH lok: 51056533 108 exp: 51056533 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $011-08-23 $t03:30:24.449 201C/01 $011-08-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01241543895 208@/01 $a11-08-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/144841 $XH lok: 51056533 204 exp: 51056533 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $011-08-23 $t03:30:24.453 201C/01 $011-08-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01241543909 208@/01 $a11-08-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/144841 $XH lok: 51056533 205 exp: 51056533 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $011-08-23 $t03:30:24.456 201C/01 $011-08-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01241543917 208@/01 $a11-08-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://freidok.uni-freiburg.de/data/144841 $XH
