Přibližuje dynamiku úřadování jednotlivých stupňů správy, od centrální dvorské komory, přes českou komoru, rentmistrovský úřad a účtárnu, zmíněné vrchnostenské aparáty a jejich komunikaci s městskými i venkovskými samosprávami a obyvateli daných panství. U vrchnostenských aparátů se zaměřuje nejen na proměnu organizační struktury úřadů, povinností a kompetencí jeho zástupců, ale snaží se přiblížit též sociální složení, platové ohodnocení či otázku kvalifikace potřebné k výkonu úřadu. Představen je dále samotný proces přijetí do služby, otázka motivace i sankcí a pojetí „úřední kariéry“ jako takové. Opomenuty nezůstávají některá neuralgická místa odrážející se v pramenech po celé sledované období (klientelismus, nedoplatky a defraudace apod). Stěžejním cílem je zachytit, komparovat a analyzovat nejen proměny (či konstanty) v úřední praxi, ale poukázat též na disproporce mezi úřední „teorií“ a každodenní realitou a zasadit je do kontextu „doby a místa“, v nichž jsou sledovány. Získané poznatky autorka nahlíží mj. optikou statí odkazujících k limitům modernizačních teorií a procesů, které jsou s danými teoriemi i zkoumaným obdobím spojovány (disciplinace, racionalizace, byrokratizace, profesionalizace apod). It presented not only the structure and form of bureaucratic machinery, duties and competences of its representatives but also changes of their motives for being officers and approaches to their official duties and career. Furthermore, it introduces dynamic of the administration and communication with superior as well as local authorities such as Court and especially Bohemian Chamber (and its accounting offices), town councils, headmen, village officers and local serfs. Last but not least, it describes neuralgic parts of the administration (clientelism, arrears, embezzlements etc) and ways how the superior authorities tried (or failed trying) to diminish them. Dissertation also follows process of bureaucratization and professionalization or, to be precise, its manifestations and reflection (in)to the environment of the estates as well as attempts to discipline officers of chamber estates. All of aforementioned topics are based not only on sources desribing the „official theory“ (such as instructions and regulations) but mainly after analysing and comparing them to other materials (correspondence, relations of visitation commisions. official books and other records written by officers itself etc). This method proved to be vital for capture and examine disproportions between norms and everyday practice of patrimonial offices and its representatives. It also helped to find line between continuities and changes in formal narative as well as in day-to-day reality. Life stories and carriers of chosen persons are presented in footnotes or in the main text, especially when they are symptomatic of some of the described phenomenon.
