Ihr Hab und Gut wurde über verschiedene europäische Häfen ins Exil verschifft. Mit Beginn des Zweiten Weltkrieges kam die Verschiffung zum Erliegen und ab Frühjahr 1940 beschlagnahmten die städtischen Behörden diese in den Häfen Hamburg und Bremen gelagerten Gegenstände und versteigerten sie. Seit 2018 untersuchen zwei ineinandergreifende, laufende und vom Deutschen Zentrum Kulturgutverluste geförderte Forschungsprojekte am Deutschen Schifffahrtsmuseum | Leibniz-Institut für Maritime Geschichte in Bremerhaven die Prozesse dieser besonderen Form der Enteignung von Juden. Ein wichtiges Hilfsmittel, um die Informationen aus den erhaltenen Dokumenten zu organisieren, war die Entwicklung der LostLift Datenbank, in der diese gebündelt und durchsuchbar gemacht werden. Die Datenbank rekonstruiert den Weg des Umzugsgutes vom Verlassen der Wohnung mit einem Spediteur bis zur Beschlagnahmung in einer Hafenstadt und schließlich der Versteigerung des Eigentums. Die entsprechenden Rückerstattungsakten vervollständigen das Bild. Darüber hinaus finden sich Informationen zu den einzelnen Beteiligten, seien es die geschädigten Familien selbst, die Spediteure, Gerichtsvollzieher:innen oder Käufer:innen der Gegenstände. Da die Recherchen noch nicht abgeschlossen sind, wird die LostLift Datenbank weiterhin in regelmäßigen Abständen aktualisiert. - [Engl.:] From 1933 onwards, many people persecuted as Jews due to Nazi ideology emigrated from Germany. Their belongings were shipped into exile via various European ports. With the beginning of the Second World War, shipping came to a halt and from spring 1940 onwards, the municipal authorities confiscated these items stored in the ports of Hamburg and Bremen and auctioned them off. Since 2018, two interlocking, ongoing research projects funded by the German Lost Art Foundation at the German Maritime Museum | Leibniz Institute for Maritime History in Bremerhaven have been investigating the processes of this particular form of dispossession of Jews. An important tool for organising the information from the surviving documents was the development of the LostLift database, in which they are pooled and made searchable. The database reconstructs the path of the moving items from their removal from the flat with a forwarding agent to confiscation in a port city and finally the auctioning of the property. The corresponding restitution files complete the picture. In addition, there is information on the individual parties involved, be it the aggrieved families themselves, the forwarding agents, bailiffs or buyers of the items.
