We have written 50 profiles of men and women connected to Krakow, either born or educated here or intimately connected with the City. Ranging from scientists and writers, artists, musicians and politicians, we have tried to capture something of their fascinating lives and significant accomplishments. We have identified the landmarks in Krakow, where they lived, were educated, worked and died, which we hope will be of interest to our readers. We hope that this book will help to demonstrate to both English speaking and Polish readers the great difference our subjects have made to Western civilsation and will perhaps encourage the reader to delve more deeply into their extraordinary stories.
