Social scientists, legal scholars, human rights activists, and historians, who study forms of enslavement in both modern and historical societies, have sought - and often achieved - common conceptual grounds, thus forging a new perspective that comprises historical and contemporary forms of slavery. What could certainly be termed a turn in the study of slavery has also intensified awareness of enslavement as a global phenomenon, inviting a comparative, trans-regional approach across time-space divides. Though different aspects of enslavement in different societies and eras are discussed, each of the volume's three parts contributes to, and has benefitted from, a global perspective of enslavement. The chapters in Part One propose to structure the global examination of the theoretical, ideological, and methodological aspects of the "global,""local," and "glocal." Part Two, "Regional and Trans-regional Perspectives of the Global," presents, through analyses of historical case studies, the link between connectivity and mobility as a fundamental aspect of the globalization of enslavement. Finally, Part Three deals with personal points of view regarding the global, local, and glocal. Grosso modo, the contributors do not only present their case studies, but attempt to demonstrate what insights and added-value explanations they gain from positioning their work vis-à-vis a broader "big picture."... lok: 51370212 3 exp: 51370212 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $006-12-23 $t22:51:04.822 201C/01 $006-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01250177812 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a06-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 5 exp: 51370212 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $006-12-23 $t22:51:04.826 201C/01 $006-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01250177820 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a06-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 8 exp: 51370212 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $006-12-23 $t22:51:04.829 201C/01 $006-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01250177839 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a06-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 10 exp: 51370212 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $006-12-23 $t22:51:04.832 201C/01 $006-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01250177847 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a06-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 11 exp: 51370212 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $012-12-23 $t13:26:46.470 201C/01 $012-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01251582540 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a12-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 13 exp: 51370212 13 1 #EPN 201B/01 $012-12-23 $t13:26:46.481 201C/01 $012-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01251582559 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a12-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 20 exp: 51370212 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $012-12-23 $t13:26:46.484 201C/01 $012-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01251582567 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a12-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 21 exp: 51370212 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $006-12-23 $t22:51:04.835 201C/01 $006-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01250177855 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a06-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 23 exp: 51370212 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $006-12-23 $t22:51:04.838 201C/01 $006-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01250177863 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a06-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 24 exp: 51370212 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $012-12-23 $t13:26:46.487 201C/01 $012-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01251582575 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a12-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 25 exp: 51370212 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $006-12-23 $t22:51:04.841 201C/01 $006-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01250177871 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a06-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 36 exp: 51370212 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $012-12-23 $t13:26:46.490 201C/01 $012-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01251582583 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a12-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 49 exp: 51370212 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $012-12-23 $t13:26:46.493 201C/01 $012-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01251582591 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a12-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 51 exp: 51370212 51 1 #EPN 201B/01 $012-12-23 $t13:26:46.499 201C/01 $012-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01251582613 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a12-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 54 exp: 51370212 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $012-12-23 $t13:26:46.502 201C/01 $012-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01251582621 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a12-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 59 exp: 51370212 59 1 #EPN 201B/01 $012-12-23 $t13:26:46.507 201C/01 $012-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01251582648 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a12-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 69 exp: 51370212 69 1 #EPN 201B/01 $012-12-23 $t13:26:46.510 201C/01 $012-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01251582656 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a12-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 75 exp: 51370212 75 1 #EPN 201B/01 $012-12-23 $t13:26:46.515 201C/01 $012-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01251582672 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a12-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 76 exp: 51370212 76 1 #EPN 201B/01 $012-12-23 $t13:26:46.517 201C/01 $012-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01251582680 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a12-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 107 exp: 51370212 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $012-12-23 $t13:26:46.520 201C/01 $012-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01251582699 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a12-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 108 exp: 51370212 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $012-12-23 $t13:26:46.523 201C/01 $012-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01251582702 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a12-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 204 exp: 51370212 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $006-12-23 $t22:51:04.844 201C/01 $006-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0125017788X 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a06-12-23 $bl lok: 51370212 205 exp: 51370212 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $006-12-23 $t22:51:04.846 201C/01 $006-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01250177898 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111296913 $S0 208@/01 $a06-12-23 $bl
