The numerous drum traditions of Bhaktapur in the Kathmandu Valley are a vibrant aspect of traditional Newar culture that saw its heyday between the thirteenth and eighteenth centuries. The three Malla kingdoms of Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Kathmandu competed in art, architecture, music, dance and opulent town rituals celebrating the presence of the gods. Music served as a portal between the human world and the realm of the gods. This study documents the role and repertoires of the different percussion genres in a transcribed and commented form for practical use and as a teaching aid. It also includes a dictionary of Newari terms related to music. As it focuses on the musical life of Bhaktapur during the decade starting from 1983, it could serve as a point of reference for comparison with the present situation. This publication is an outstanding contribution to the preservation of Newar culture. lok: 51436483 3 exp: 51436483 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $030-12-23 $t23:08:59.436 201C/01 $030-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01253359733 208@/01 $a30-12-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/121903 $XH lok: 51436483 5 exp: 51436483 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $030-12-23 $t23:08:59.439 201C/01 $030-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01253359741 208@/01 $a30-12-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/121903 $XH lok: 51436483 8 exp: 51436483 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $030-12-23 $t23:08:59.443 201C/01 $030-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0125335975X 208@/01 $a30-12-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/121903 $XH lok: 51436483 10 exp: 51436483 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $030-12-23 $t23:08:59.446 201C/01 $030-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01253359768 208@/01 $a30-12-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/121903 $XH lok: 51436483 11 exp: 51436483 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $030-12-23 $t23:08:59.448 201C/01 $030-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01253359776 208@/01 $a30-12-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/121903 $XH lok: 51436483 13 exp: 51436483 13 1 #EPN 201B/01 $030-12-23 $t23:08:59.450 201C/01 $030-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01253359784 208@/01 $a30-12-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/121903 $XH lok: 51436483 21 exp: 51436483 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $030-12-23 $t23:08:59.453 201C/01 $030-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01253359792 208@/01 $a30-12-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/121903 $XH lok: 51436483 23 exp: 51436483 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $030-12-23 $t23:08:59.455 201C/01 $030-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01253359806 208@/01 $a30-12-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/121903 $XH lok: 51436483 24 exp: 51436483 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $030-12-23 $t23:08:59.458 201C/01 $030-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01253359814 208@/01 $a30-12-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/121903 $XH lok: 51436483 25 exp: 51436483 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $030-12-23 $t23:08:59.462 201C/01 $030-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01253359822 208@/01 $a30-12-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/121903 $XH lok: 51436483 51 exp: 51436483 51 1 #EPN 201B/01 $030-12-23 $t23:08:59.464 201C/01 $030-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01253359830 208@/01 $a30-12-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/121903 $XH lok: 51436483 58 exp: 51436483 58 1 #EPN 201B/01 $030-12-23 $t23:08:59.467 201C/01 $030-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01253359849 208@/01 $a30-12-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/121903 $XH lok: 51436483 76 exp: 51436483 76 1 #EPN 201B/01 $030-12-23 $t23:08:59.469 201C/01 $030-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01253359857 208@/01 $a30-12-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/121903 $XH lok: 51436483 77 exp: 51436483 77 1 #EPN 201B/01 $030-12-23 $t23:08:59.471 201C/01 $030-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01253359865 208@/01 $a30-12-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/121903 $XH lok: 51436483 107 exp: 51436483 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $030-12-23 $t23:08:59.474 201C/01 $030-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01253359873 208@/01 $a30-12-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/121903 $XH lok: 51436483 204 exp: 51436483 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $030-12-23 $t23:08:59.476 201C/01 $030-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01253359881 208@/01 $a30-12-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/121903 $XH lok: 51436483 205 exp: 51436483 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $030-12-23 $t23:08:59.479 201C/01 $030-12-23 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0125335989X 208@/01 $a30-12-23 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/121903 $XH
