This book addresses the intentional invisibilization and concealment of people, knowledge, and ideas in historiography - both by historians and by the historical actors themselves - as an object of study. It does so through the lens of Asian bondage and dependency in modern and contemporary history. This collective work focuses on 'concealment', 'self-concealment' and 'invisibility' to analyze the asymmetrical agency involved in the act of hiding someone or something from being 'inscribed' in the record, and the social marginalization involved in this process. With studies ranging from imperial, colonial, and postcolonial history, language and translation studies, as well as digital archival sciences, the authors in this book examine ways in which concealment serves as a strategic tool for exercising power and shaping the flow of information. Consequently, this volume urges a fresh awareness of narrative construction, encouraging humanities researchers to think creatively and to historicize independently of dominant narratives. lok: 52878821 3 exp: 52878821 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $006-04-25 $t22:15:09.475 201C/01 $006-04-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01298211921 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111381831 $S0 208@/01 $a06-04-25 $bl lok: 52878821 5 exp: 52878821 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $006-04-25 $t22:15:09.478 201C/01 $006-04-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0129821193X 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111381831 $S0 208@/01 $a06-04-25 $bl lok: 52878821 8 exp: 52878821 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $006-04-25 $t22:15:09.481 201C/01 $006-04-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01298211948 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111381831 $S0 208@/01 $a06-04-25 $bl lok: 52878821 10 exp: 52878821 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $006-04-25 $t22:15:09.484 201C/01 $006-04-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01298211956 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111381831 $S0 208@/01 $a06-04-25 $bl lok: 52878821 11 exp: 52878821 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $019-08-25 $t22:19:47.520 201C/01 $019-08-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01316273911 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111381831 $S0 208@/01 $a19-08-25 $bl lok: 52878821 13 exp: 52878821 13 1 #EPN 201B/01 $019-08-25 $t22:19:47.525 201C/01 $019-08-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0131627392X 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111381831 $S0 208@/01 $a19-08-25 $bl lok: 52878821 21 exp: 52878821 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $006-04-25 $t22:15:09.487 201C/01 $006-04-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01298211964 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111381831 $S0 208@/01 $a06-04-25 $bl lok: 52878821 23 exp: 52878821 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $006-04-25 $t22:15:09.489 201C/01 $006-04-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01298211972 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111381831 $S0 208@/01 $a06-04-25 $bl lok: 52878821 24 exp: 52878821 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $019-08-25 $t22:19:47.528 201C/01 $019-08-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01316273938 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111381831 $S0 208@/01 $a19-08-25 $bl lok: 52878821 25 exp: 52878821 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $006-04-25 $t22:15:09.492 201C/01 $006-04-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01298211980 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111381831 $S0 208@/01 $a06-04-25 $bl lok: 52878821 36 exp: 52878821 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $019-08-25 $t22:19:47.530 201C/01 $019-08-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01316273946 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111381831 $S0 208@/01 $a19-08-25 $bl lok: 52878821 51 exp: 52878821 51 1 #EPN 201B/01 $019-08-25 $t22:19:47.533 201C/01 $019-08-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01316273954 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111381831 $S0 208@/01 $a19-08-25 $bl lok: 52878821 59 exp: 52878821 59 1 #EPN 201B/01 $019-08-25 $t22:19:47.536 201C/01 $019-08-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01316273962 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111381831 $S0 208@/01 $a19-08-25 $bl lok: 52878821 75 exp: 52878821 75 1 #EPN 201B/01 $019-08-25 $t22:19:47.538 201C/01 $019-08-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01316273970 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111381831 $S0 208@/01 $a19-08-25 $bl lok: 52878821 107 exp: 52878821 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $019-08-25 $t22:19:47.540 201C/01 $019-08-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01316273989 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111381831 $S0 208@/01 $a19-08-25 $bl lok: 52878821 108 exp: 52878821 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $019-08-25 $t22:19:47.544 201C/01 $019-08-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01316273997 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111381831 $S0 208@/01 $a19-08-25 $bl lok: 52878821 204 exp: 52878821 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $006-04-25 $t22:15:09.494 201C/01 $006-04-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01298211999 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111381831 $S0 208@/01 $a06-04-25 $bl lok: 52878821 205 exp: 52878821 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $006-04-25 $t22:15:09.497 201C/01 $006-04-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01298212006 204P/01 $010.1515/9783111381831 $S0 208@/01 $a06-04-25 $bl
