However, the peoples of Europe's remote past, whom the Greeks, Romans, and their medieval heirs called the «barbarians», also left their mark. Closely examining ancient and medieval narratives and the codifications of laws, this thoughtfully conducted comparative study sheds light on the illiterate societies of the early Germanic and Slavic peoples. The picture that emerges is one of communities built on kinship, neighborly, and tribal relations, where decision making, judgement, and punishment were carried out collectively, and the distinction between the sacred and profane was unknown. lok: 53089047 3 exp: 53089047 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $028-06-25 $t00:09:58.620 201C/01 $027-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01308223692 208@/01 $a27-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/60720 $XR lok: 53089047 5 exp: 53089047 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $028-06-25 $t00:09:58.624 201C/01 $027-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01308223706 208@/01 $a27-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/60720 $XR lok: 53089047 8 exp: 53089047 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $028-06-25 $t00:09:58.626 201C/01 $027-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01308223714 208@/01 $a27-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/60720 $XR lok: 53089047 10 exp: 53089047 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $028-06-25 $t00:09:58.630 201C/01 $027-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01308223722 208@/01 $a27-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/60720 $XR lok: 53089047 11 exp: 53089047 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-07-25 $t00:45:14.587 201C/01 $030-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01310460841 208@/01 $a30-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/60720 $XR lok: 53089047 13 exp: 53089047 13 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-07-25 $t00:45:14.591 201C/01 $030-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0131046085X 208@/01 $a30-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/60720 $XR lok: 53089047 21 exp: 53089047 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $028-06-25 $t00:09:58.632 201C/01 $027-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01308223730 208@/01 $a27-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/60720 $XR lok: 53089047 23 exp: 53089047 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $028-06-25 $t00:09:58.635 201C/01 $027-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01308223749 208@/01 $a27-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/60720 $XR lok: 53089047 24 exp: 53089047 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-07-25 $t00:45:14.593 201C/01 $030-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01310460868 208@/01 $a30-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/60720 $XR lok: 53089047 25 exp: 53089047 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $028-06-25 $t00:09:58.638 201C/01 $027-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01308223757 208@/01 $a27-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/60720 $XR lok: 53089047 36 exp: 53089047 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-07-25 $t00:45:14.595 201C/01 $030-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01310460876 208@/01 $a30-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/60720 $XR lok: 53089047 51 exp: 53089047 51 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-07-25 $t00:45:14.598 201C/01 $030-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01310460884 208@/01 $a30-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/60720 $XR lok: 53089047 74 exp: 53089047 74 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-07-25 $t00:45:14.600 201C/01 $030-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01310460892 208@/01 $a30-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/60720 $XR lok: 53089047 75 exp: 53089047 75 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-07-25 $t00:45:14.603 201C/01 $030-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01310460906 208@/01 $a30-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/60720 $XR lok: 53089047 107 exp: 53089047 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $001-07-25 $t00:45:14.607 201C/01 $030-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01310460914 208@/01 $a30-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/60720 $XR lok: 53089047 204 exp: 53089047 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $028-06-25 $t00:09:58.641 201C/01 $027-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01308223765 208@/01 $a27-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/60720 $XR lok: 53089047 205 exp: 53089047 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $028-06-25 $t00:09:58.643 201C/01 $027-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01308223773 208@/01 $a27-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/60720 $XR
