These principal ideas have been presented clearly in past centuries, when the relation between democracy and representation was still a matter of political judgement. The old masters of political thinking clarified the functions of representation: legitimising power, creating sovereignty but also setting its limits, and pursuing the common good while still reflecting social diversity. Because institutions of representation are expected to fulfil a variety of functions, these institutions have in recent times come under attack for standing in the way of radical programs for democratising democracy. The author of this book reminds us that these functions are necessary in every political order, whether democratic or not. Instead of rejecting representation, political theorists should focus on making government more accountable. lok: 53099561 3 exp: 53099561 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.238 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311560 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 5 exp: 53099561 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.241 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311579 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 6 exp: 53099561 6 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.243 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311587 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 8 exp: 53099561 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.246 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311595 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 10 exp: 53099561 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.248 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311609 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 11 exp: 53099561 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.251 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311617 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 13 exp: 53099561 13 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.253 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311625 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 20 exp: 53099561 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.255 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311633 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 21 exp: 53099561 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.258 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311641 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 23 exp: 53099561 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.260 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0130931165X 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 24 exp: 53099561 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.263 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311668 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 25 exp: 53099561 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.265 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311676 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 36 exp: 53099561 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.267 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311684 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 49 exp: 53099561 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.270 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311692 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 54 exp: 53099561 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.272 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311706 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 69 exp: 53099561 69 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.275 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311714 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 76 exp: 53099561 76 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.277 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311722 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 107 exp: 53099561 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.279 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311730 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 108 exp: 53099561 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.282 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311749 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 204 exp: 53099561 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.284 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311757 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR lok: 53099561 205 exp: 53099561 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t00:40:01.287 201C/01 $028-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309311765 208@/01 $a28-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52985 $XR
