In the history of scholarship, the texts have primarily been analyzed in light of the contexts of their hypothetical Greek originals, which in a majority of cases have been thought to have been authored in the second and third centuries CE in a variety of contexts. The articles in this volume take a different approach. Instead of focusing on hypothetical originals, they ask how the texts may have been used and understood by those who read the Coptic papyrus codices in which the texts have been preserved and take as their point of departure recent research indicating that these manuscripts were produced and used by early Egyptian monastics. It is shown that the reading habits and theological ideas attested historically for Upper Egyptian monasticism in the fourth and fifth centuries resonate well with several of the texts within the Nag Hammadi Codices. lok: 53101120 3 exp: 53101120 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.582 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309481458 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR lok: 53101120 5 exp: 53101120 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.584 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309481466 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR lok: 53101120 6 exp: 53101120 6 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.587 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309481474 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR lok: 53101120 8 exp: 53101120 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.589 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309481482 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR lok: 53101120 10 exp: 53101120 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.591 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309481490 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR lok: 53101120 11 exp: 53101120 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.594 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309481504 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR lok: 53101120 13 exp: 53101120 13 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.597 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309481512 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR lok: 53101120 21 exp: 53101120 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.600 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309481520 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR lok: 53101120 23 exp: 53101120 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.602 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309481539 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR lok: 53101120 24 exp: 53101120 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.604 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309481547 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR lok: 53101120 25 exp: 53101120 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.607 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309481555 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR lok: 53101120 36 exp: 53101120 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.609 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309481563 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR lok: 53101120 54 exp: 53101120 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.612 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309481571 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR lok: 53101120 71 exp: 53101120 71 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.614 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0130948158X 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR lok: 53101120 75 exp: 53101120 75 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.617 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309481598 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR lok: 53101120 76 exp: 53101120 76 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.619 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309481601 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR lok: 53101120 107 exp: 53101120 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.622 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0130948161X 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR lok: 53101120 204 exp: 53101120 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.625 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309481628 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR lok: 53101120 205 exp: 53101120 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t07:21:11.627 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309481636 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88166 $XR
