German foreign and security policy is facing a profound reorientation. Great power competition between the United States and both a revanchist Russia and a rising China, the return of war and nuclear threats to Europe, and the emergence of new technologies all force Germany to adapt. German policymakers and scholars increasingly speak of a pivotal Zeitenwende, an epochal turning point in history. How does Germany adapt its nuclear policies to these changing conditions? The volume brings together internationally renowned nuclear scholars and policy analysts from Germany and abroad. Focussing on German nuclear deterrence, arms control and disarmament as well as nonproliferation policies, the contributors assess how German leaders have navigated continuity and change, domestically and abroad. The volume concludes that Germany remains bound by dependence on the United States and its own conservatism. Within these parameters, German leaders have adapted slowly to change and continue to balance seemingly contradictory deterrence and disarmament goals. This book will be of much interest to students of nuclear proliferation, security studies, German politics and International Relations, as well as policymakers. lok: 53102177 3 exp: 53102177 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:07:17.766 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309595917 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88129 $XR lok: 53102177 5 exp: 53102177 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:07:17.769 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309595925 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88129 $XR lok: 53102177 8 exp: 53102177 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:07:17.772 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309595933 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88129 $XR lok: 53102177 10 exp: 53102177 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:07:17.774 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309595941 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88129 $XR lok: 53102177 11 exp: 53102177 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:07:17.776 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0130959595X 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88129 $XR lok: 53102177 20 exp: 53102177 20 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:07:17.779 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309595968 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88129 $XR lok: 53102177 21 exp: 53102177 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:07:17.781 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309595976 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88129 $XR lok: 53102177 23 exp: 53102177 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:07:17.784 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309595984 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88129 $XR lok: 53102177 24 exp: 53102177 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:07:17.786 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309595992 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88129 $XR lok: 53102177 25 exp: 53102177 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:07:17.789 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0130959600X 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88129 $XR lok: 53102177 36 exp: 53102177 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:07:17.792 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309596018 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88129 $XR lok: 53102177 49 exp: 53102177 49 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:07:17.794 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309596026 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88129 $XR lok: 53102177 51 exp: 53102177 51 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:07:17.797 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309596034 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88129 $XR lok: 53102177 54 exp: 53102177 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:07:17.799 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309596042 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88129 $XR lok: 53102177 108 exp: 53102177 108 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:07:17.802 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309596050 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88129 $XR lok: 53102177 204 exp: 53102177 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:07:17.804 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309596069 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88129 $XR lok: 53102177 205 exp: 53102177 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:07:17.806 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309596077 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88129 $XR
