However, if one looks at other texts of the Hebrew Bible, there is no mention of the Joseph story; instead, the arrival of the Israelites is said to be the result of the decision of a "father" or of "fathers" to go down do Egypt. Indeed, there are very few references to Joseph at all in the whole Hebrew Bible. Apparently, the Joseph story is not necessary for explaining why the Israelites found themselves in Egypt. The question therefore arises: Why was this story written, when, and for what audience? This volume offers an overview of the current discussion on the origins, composition, and historical contexts behind the Joseph narrative. There is a tendency to date the story (or its original version) to the Persian period, but this volume includes divergent voices about this issue. The volume also shows that scholarly discussion about the historical location of the Joseph story requires to bring together Egyptologists and biblical scholars. lok: 53102436 3 exp: 53102436 3 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.582 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309623139 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR lok: 53102436 5 exp: 53102436 5 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.585 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309623147 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR lok: 53102436 6 exp: 53102436 6 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.588 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309623155 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR lok: 53102436 8 exp: 53102436 8 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.590 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309623163 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR lok: 53102436 10 exp: 53102436 10 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.593 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309623171 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR lok: 53102436 11 exp: 53102436 11 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.595 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0130962318X 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR lok: 53102436 13 exp: 53102436 13 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.598 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309623198 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR lok: 53102436 21 exp: 53102436 21 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.600 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309623201 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR lok: 53102436 23 exp: 53102436 23 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.602 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $0130962321X 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR lok: 53102436 24 exp: 53102436 24 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.605 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309623228 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR lok: 53102436 25 exp: 53102436 25 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.607 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309623236 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR lok: 53102436 36 exp: 53102436 36 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.609 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309623244 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR lok: 53102436 54 exp: 53102436 54 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.612 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309623252 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR lok: 53102436 71 exp: 53102436 71 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.615 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309623260 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR lok: 53102436 75 exp: 53102436 75 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.618 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309623279 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR lok: 53102436 76 exp: 53102436 76 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.620 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309623287 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR lok: 53102436 107 exp: 53102436 107 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.623 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309623295 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR lok: 53102436 204 exp: 53102436 204 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.626 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309623309 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR lok: 53102436 205 exp: 53102436 205 1 #EPN 201B/01 $029-06-25 $t08:18:18.629 201C/01 $029-06-25 201U/01 $0utf8 203@/01 $01309623317 208@/01 $a29-06-25 $bl 209S/01 $S0 $uhttps://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52170 $XR
