Der Wunderknaul is the beautifully illustrated tale of Inge's adventures with a ball of yarn. This innovative picture book with verses by Margarete Kallmeyer-Mehlhorn reflects an interesting transitional period in German society from a nursery perspective: the change from traditional German society to the modern world. The book contains a biographical note with family photographs by Kallmeyer-Mehlhorns great nephew, an introduction by Ivy Trent, a facsimile of the original illustration with parallel text and translation and a facsimile of the original typescript.
