Für den Politikunterricht sind alle leistungsbezogenen Emotionen bei der Auseinandersetzung mit den politischen Inhalten relevant. Diskutiert wird im ersten Schritt, welche Folgen die lernpsychologischen und politikwissenschaftlichen Begriffe von Emotion für eine politikdidaktische Perspektive haben. Zusätzlich wird der theoretische Hintergrund der in den vorzustellenden vier Studien benutzten Motivationsaspekte (1.) politische Partizipation, (2.) Fachinteresse, (3.) Selbstkonzept und (4.) Vertrauen vor dem Hintergrund emotionalen Erlebens vertiefend dargestellt. Hier wird zugleich der Zusammenhang zum politischen Wissen als Leistungsdisposition mit dem Modell der Politikkompetenz hergestellt. Daran schließt sich die Zusammenschau der empirischen Befunde an.
